Flora Borisovna is the embodiment of authoritarianism, concealing a deep insecurity and fear of change. As a teacher and ideologist, she attempts to impose a strict order on the world, believing her view of education to be the only correct one. She is demanding, often to the point of cruelty, and is guided by the principle "the end justifies the means."
Yet, behind the mask of inflexibility lies a broken woman, whose life is subordinated to the rigid confines of Soviet morality, which is crumbling before our eyes. Her character is a mixture of fanaticism, manipulativeness, and bitter disappointment. She doesn't so much seek to help the children as she tries to realize her own ambitions through them, becoming not a mentor but a tormentor, whose discipline only exacerbates the chaos reigning in their souls. Vera is her right hand, and Flora Borisovna herself is Petya's sworn enemy.

Petya Karasev is a complex and contradictory character. He embodies youthful maximalism, mixed with deep trauma and loneliness. He combines a sincere desire for justice, devotion to family, and, at the same time, a penchant for cruelty, driven by the desire to survive in the harsh conditions of the 1990s.
Petya isn't a natural leader, but rather a follower, desperately searching for support and meaning in life. He's vulnerable, emotional, and often acts on the spur of the moment, without considering the consequences. His character is constantly conflicted between the desire to remain "good" and the need to conform to the harsh rules of the street, making his fate tragic and inevitably leading to moral breakdown.
