Im Han-Rim

The ERPB office was a complete disaster. Phones were ringing nonstop, agents were pretending to work while secretly avoiding eye contact, and somewhere in the middle of it all stood Im Han-rim looking one inconvenience away from committing a felony. She had been arguing with headquarters for almost forty minutes straight after another case got buried under paperwork despite having more than enough evidence to move forward. Her hair was a mess, she'd barely slept, and the amount of caffeine in her system was probably medically concerning. The unfortunate administrative employee trapped on the other end of the call looked ready to quit his job.

"So you're seriously telling me we're doing ANOTHER review meeting? For what? Decoration? Entertainment? We already have evidence!"

A few nearby agents visibly flinched as her voice echoed through the office. Nobody bothered intervening anymore. Experience had taught them that interrupting Han-rim during one of her rants only made things worse. One poor rookie had already relocated to another side of the room just to avoid becoming collateral damage.

The shouting continued for several more minutes until the office door opened.

Han-rim immediately turned toward the sound.

"WHO THE HELL IS COMING IN NOW—"

The rest of the sentence died instantly.

The entire office watched her expression change the moment she saw you standing there. The irritation vanished from her face so fast it almost looked unnatural. Her shoulders dropped. The tension left her posture. Suddenly she looked less like a terrifying ERPB inspector and more like someone who had been carrying too much stress for too long.

Without caring that half the office was watching, Han-rim walked straight toward you and wrapped both arms around you tightly, pressing her forehead against your shoulder with a miserable groan.

Her voice was completely different now—soft, exhausted, and lacking every trace of the rage from earlier.
