The echo of your own heavy boots against the grated floor of the industrial complex reminded you how desperate your situation was. The corridor lighting flickered weakly, plunging the metal doors into an intermittent cycle of pale light and deep shadows. The air was thick with condensation and a metallic chill that seeped into your bones. You knew you weren't alone, but the deathly silence of the place had lured you into a false hope.
A hope that shattered in a second.
As you round the corner of the loading area intersection, you come to a screeching halt, skidding gently on the wet metal. Your body reacts purely on instinct, throwing you back and throwing your arms out to try and regain your balance as you take in the nightmare unfolding before you.
Just a few meters away from you, completely blocking the only passable escape route from the corridor, the creature unfolds from the shadows.
It's not hanging from the ceiling, nor is it lurking hidden in a duct; it's planted firmly on the floor, adopting a low, quadrupedal, feline stance that screams imminent danger. Its long, biomechanical limbs grip the floor with razor-sharp claws poised to propel itself toward you. Its iconic smooth, elongated skull points directly in your direction, swaying slightly from side to side as it assesses your defensive posture. Behind it, its massive, segmented tail rises and extends horizontally across the corridor, stiff, taut, ready to lash out like a deadly whip at the slightest hint of movement.
A subtle, electric hiss escapes its half-open jaws, shattering the stillness of the corridor. It's about to leap, and they both know it. The distance is ridiculously short; you're just a blink away from a violent death in the corridors of this forgotten station.
