Crocodile is a tall man with a broad chest and shoulders, muscular arms and legs, and a thick neck. His skin is pale, and his black hair is always neatly combed back, though in battle, several strands tend to fall across his face. His deep-set eyes, along with his thin, slightly upturned eyebrows, generally give him a skeptical and distrustful expression. Crocodile bears several battle scars. Among the most prominent is a long, horizontal scar across his face, extending over the bridge of his nose, and another on his left hand, which was amputated and replaced with a large gold hook. Crocodile usually speaks in a deep, relaxed voice and is often seen smoking a thick cigar produced by his company.

His style of dress is meant to convey the image of an Italian mafia boss. In his debut, he wore a white shirt under a bright orange vest with a black striped pattern running horizontally and vertically, a blue neckerchief, black suit trousers, and polished black shoes with gold buckles. A long, thick, dark fur coat draped over his shoulders.

After being imprisoned in Impel Down, he is seen wearing the classic striped prison uniform, just like the other inmates, though, oddly, he was allowed to keep his golden hook. After joining Monkey D. Luffy and the rest of the rebellion, Crocodile received a full supply of clothing from his crewmates: a black shirt, a green bandana, dark gray pants, and a thick black fur coat with gray trim. Following the Battle of Marineford, he is seen wearing an outfit very similar to the one he wore in Alabasta: with the fur on his coat again unified, and a dark vest over a lighter-colored shirt.

In all his appearances, he has been seen wearing a gold hoop earring in his right ear, and several gold rings with precious stones of different colors on each finger, except for the ring finger.

Crocodile is an extremely self-assured man with great confidence in his abilities. His power is displayed on numerous occasions throughout the series, but perhaps the clearest example was the two times he nearly killed Monkey D. Luffy. His overconfidence and his pleasure in slowly killing his opponents led him to underestimate his rival (which ultimately led to his defeat).

His willingness to kill demonstrates his ruthless nature. Crocodile doesn't hesitate before sentencing someone to death. He is also easily irritated, becoming extremely angry if anyone insults or ridicules him. He himself stated that he had killed anyone who dared to insult him. This irritability is first shown in his second conversation with Sanji, via a Den Den Mushi, and more clearly during his first fight against Luffy, when the latter dared to call him stupid for Nico Robin's amusement, whom he threatened to kill for laughing. In his encounter with Doflamingo during the Great War, he admitted that he didn't always act rationally.

Despite his intolerance of insults, Crocodile has a deeply ingrained habit of insulting others, frequently using the term "useless" to refer to his enemies or his unattainable goals. His extreme arrogance and exorbitant pride lead him to despise or treat as inferior a wide range of people, from former colleagues in the World Government, such as Mihawk, Doflamingo (whom he told should become his subordinate), and Jinbe, to Emperor Whitebeard, of whom he claimed to be ashamed, seeing how weak he was. Crocodile believes that only ignorant fools hail their dreams as the ultimate goal in life, and that he himself has ended the lives of countless dreaming pirates who, like Luffy, have stood in his way. He values ​​military power above popularity, renown, and wealth. His original goal in Alabasta, for which he worked for over fifteen years, was to seize control of the kingdom and transform it into the most powerful military nation in the world, thanks to the power of the ancient weapon Pluton. He believed that, by possessing this weapon, pirates and warriors from all over the world would serve him, until he achieved a military might capable of rivaling that of the World Government itself.

Honor seems to be the antithesis of his way of thinking, as he refused to fight the Tsumegeri guard, whose members had consumed the Hero's Water to increase their power, only to die minutes later. Instead, he dodged their attacks with his Devil's Ability and sat back, waiting for them to die one by one. One of the few glimpses of this trait he displayed occurred during his third fight against Luffy, when he declared that Luffy deserved an honorable death, which he then carried out using the poison on his hook.

Although this could be seen as an act of cruelty rather than honor, Crocodile seemed to genuinely consider the use of his poisoned hook a way of rewarding his rival's tenacity. Another possible example of honor appears to have occurred at Marineford, as, after Whitebeard was stabbed by Squard, Crocodile refused to fight him due to his weakened state.

Crocodile shows no emotional concern for any of his subordinates, being willing to sacrifice them to achieve his ambitions. The prime example of this is in Alabasta, where he attempted to wipe out all his agents with a massive explosion in the capital's central square. As a leader, he is intolerant of those who fail him, such as Mr. 3 and/or Nico Robin, whom he tried to kill—unsuccessfully. He generally considers his subordinates mere pawns, serving his goals, and seems to have never trusted any of them, according to his own words. Currently, however, he appears to have a good relationship with Daz Bonez, Mr. 1, who accompanied him to the New World after being rescued by Crocodile himself from his cell in Impel Down.

After his defeat at the hands of Luffy and being stripped of his title as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Crocodile lost interest in the outside world and refused to escape with the rest of his subordinates during Miss Goldenweek's operation to free the members of Baroque Works. His only motivation for leaving Impel Down was the hope of killing Whitebeard (his great rival during the Great War). During his time as a prisoner, Crocodile seemed to be the only one in Impel Down who enjoyed his situation, laughing and mocking his fellow inmates.

His defeat in Arabasta seems to have softened Crocodile. At least to some extent.

Currently, he seems more willing to help others, both in the prison escape and in the Great War; stopping Ace's execution, intercepting Mihawk to prevent Luffy's fall, and saving Jinbe from Akainu, among other examples. Despite this, Crocodile claimed that his actions were solely motivated by his desire to prevent the Marines from winning the war. After the war, he seems to have regained the same adventurous spirit he possessed as a carefree and romantic pirate in the past, before the New World corrupted his personality, making him skeptical, cruel, and self-serving.

His relationship with his employees was nonexistent. His identity was shrouded in complete mystery to the entire organization, with the exception of Nico Robin (his direct partner). By concealing it, he intended two things: to avoid alienating his employees due to his connection with the World Government and to prevent any of them from revealing his illegal activities.

Crocodile didn't hesitate to kill his employees if they disappointed him, as he attempted to do with Mr. 3, ignoring the fact that he was a loyal and efficient subordinate. From then on, mere eye contact with his former boss terrified him. Despite this, unlike villains like Kuro, Crocodile only punished his subordinates if they failed or betrayed him, not out of mere whim, pleasure, or convenience.

Mr. 2, like the rest of the high-ranking officers, was surprised to learn Crocodile's true identity, but unlike his colleagues, he quickly became familiar with him and used the term "Zero-chan" to refer to him. Despite Crocodile's cruelty, the officers maintained a certain level of loyalty toward him after his defeat. This was demonstrated when Miss Goldenweek tried to save him and the other officers from prison, even though she ultimately decided to remain behind bars alongside Mr. 1.

Nico Robin:
The connection between Crocodile and Nico Robin was strictly business; he didn't consider her a friend, but rather another tool to achieve his ambitions. He never showed her compassion or brotherhood; he only expected her to carry out his orders. He felt no pity for her when she failed to obtain Pluton, and he didn't hesitate to try to kill her, even though moments before, he had acknowledged that she had been a good partner and that her diligence and intelligence had been very useful to him over the past four years.

Crocodile has a relationship of trust and loyalty with his former subordinate at Baroque Works: Daz Bonez. This relationship was evident when Bonez forfeited his escape from the Marines' temporary prison during Miss Goldenweek's operation to stay with his boss. Later, he joined the Impel Down riot at Crocodile's request and acted as his loyal right-hand man during the Battle of Marineford, accompanying him in combat and following his orders to the letter. This was further demonstrated when he faced Dracule Mihawk to defend Luffy at Crocodile's behest. His loyalty was rewarded, as when Crocodile intervened in his fight against Mihawk and saved him, along with Luffy. After the war, they both traveled to the New World together.

The Seven Warlords of the Sea
Although he hasn't been seen interacting much with many of his former teammates, Crocodile doesn't seem to hold any of them in high regard, but rather indifference. If the situation calls for it, Crocodile won't hesitate to fight them.

Boa Hancock:
Crocodile remained silent during Boa Hancock's stay at Impel Down, while she completely ignored him, suggesting that perhaps they didn't know each other. However, Crocodile is one of the few prisoners on Level Six capable of resisting her beauty.

Marshall D. Teach:
Marshall D. Teach was Crocodile's successor as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. They had a brief conversation outside Impel Down, during which Teach referred to him as Mr. Crocodile. Crocodile was surprised that Teach had harmed Luffy and asked him why he was so eager to relinquish his position in the World Government.

When Teach remarked that he didn't have to tell him his plans, Crocodile agreed and replied that he wasn't interested, which prompted Teach to call him rude.
Currently, it is unknown whether Crocodile holds a grudge against him for taking Whitebeard's head during the war (something he wanted to achieve himself).

Dracule Mihawk:
Crocodile ordered Daz Bonez to save Luffy from Dracule Mihawk's sword. However, his subordinate was unable to withstand the swordsman's attacks. When Mihawk was about to finish him off, Crocodile intervened to protect both Bonez and Luffy. Despite Mihawk's status as the world's greatest swordsman, Crocodile warned him to tread carefully or he would end up trampled like an insect. Despite their encounter at Marineford, this did not prevent Crocodile, after the abolition of the Seven Warlords of the Sea system, from contacting the swordsman to propose working together and leading the Cross Guild in the shadows.

Monkey D. Luffy:
Monkey D. Luffy is perhaps the clearest representative of the romantic and dreamy pirate (a figure Crocodile decided to despise after his own romantic self was crushed in the New World). Because of this, Crocodile feels a clear aversion to Luffy, leading him to underestimate him and laugh at his dreams and aspirations. The pirate's resilience and vitality surprised Crocodile, who, in their third battle, acknowledged his abilities and decided to honor them by fighting with his poisoned hook.

After encountering Crocodile on the sixth level of Impel Down, Emporio Ivankov persuaded Luffy to free him, which he reluctantly did. During the escape, Crocodile made it clear that his sole intention was to kill Whitebeard, and he proved this upon arriving at Marineford.

Despite his defeat at the hands of Luffy, he doesn't seem to hold a grudge and was willing to offer him help in the prison escape.

During the Battle of Marineford, Crocodile ultimately sided with the Whitebeard Pirates to prevent a Marine victory, managing to interrupt Ace's first execution attempt. He protected Luffy on two separate occasions during the war: first from Dracule Mihawk, and then from Sakazuki, sending Jinbe and Luffy out of the admiral's reach.

Crocodile harbored a deep resentment toward Whitebeard. In the past, he had challenged him in the New World, but suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Emperor of the Sea. In Impel Down, he expressed his desire to fight him again and kill him once and for all (something he attempted to do as soon as he arrived at Marineford). When Squard stabbed him, Crocodile showed his outrage at how weak his great rival had become.

Kingdom of Arabasta
In Alabasta, Crocodile was seen as the hero who defeated the pirates trying to attack the nation. Unaware that his true intention was to conquer the kingdom, the citizens admired him, and even the king acknowledged his good deeds. The first citizen of Alabasta to discover his evil intentions was Princess Nefertari Vivi. After his defeat at the hands of Luffy, she revealed the truth behind his heroic facade to all the citizens, much to their shock.

As such, Crocodile is one of the main enemies of the Kingdom of Arabasta due to his attempt to conquer the country. Even though his objective changed, the people of Arabasta harbor a deep hatred for him for instigating a bloody civil war.

Nefertari Vivi:
Crocodile assures Vivi that she will not be able to save her country as long as she remains weak.
Of all his citizens, Princess Vivi is the one with whom he has the worst relationship. After learning of the crimes he was committing at the expense of her country, she expressed her desire to kill him and did not hesitate to try to do so.

At Alubarna Palace, Crocodile crushed her hopes, explaining that she could never save the country because of her weakness. He then tried to kill her by throwing her from the top of the castle, but Luffy and Pell intervened.

Nefertari Cobra:

Nefertari Cobra was first seen expressing his gratitude to Crocodile for defeating pirates who attempted to attack Nanohana, unaware of the true nature and intentions of the then-member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. He later learned the truth after the rebellion, thanks to Vivi. Crocodile captured Cobra and demanded he lead him to the royal tomb, where the Poneglyph revealing the location of Pluton was located. Cobra was willing to face death if it meant preventing Crocodile from seizing the throne. When Luffy reached the tomb and fought Crocodile one last time, Cobra witnessed the battle and was astonished by Luffy's final attack, which killed Crocodile.

Chaka:
Crocodile and Chaka fought when Crocodile appeared at the royal palace of Alubarna. Chaka, furious at the way Crocodile had wiped out the Tsumegeri Guard, attacked him with his sword. His motives included protecting Vivi ya Koza and buying enough time to end the fight. Despite his best efforts, Chaka was easily defeated, and Crocodile dismissed him as weak.

Straw Hat Pirates:
Crocodile was a major enemy of the Straw Hat Pirates. His defeat at the hands of Luffy is considered one of the crew's greatest achievements. Starting at Whiskey Peak, Luffy and his crew were attacked by Crocodile and his organization, Baroque Works. When the Straw Hats finally reached Alabasta, the crew fought him for the sake of their friend, Princess Vivi.

Like the marines, Crocodile didn't see Chopper as a real threat and thought he was his pet.

World Government and Marine:
Crocodile is considered an enemy of the Marines and the World Government after his plot threatened to upset the balance of power among the three great nations. He abused his privileges as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea to build a far-reaching covert criminal organization. His actions in Alabasta left the World Government with no choice but to revoke his status, though they didn't fully grasp the extent of his scheme until Luffy intervened. The World Government planned to raise Luffy's bounty as a direct result of Crocodile's defeat, but concealed this from the rest of the world, framing Smoker and Tashigi as the ones ultimately responsible.

During the Battle of Marineford, Sengoku thought he could use Crocodile's hatred for Whitebeard to his advantage. Although Crocodile desired to take Whitebeard's head, he also wanted to prevent the Marines from succeeding, as demonstrated when he saved Ace during the first execution attempt. This surprised Sengoku. Even though Crocodile had vowed revenge against Whitebeard, he still considered the Marines his enemy and ended up saving Jinbe and Luffy from an admiral.

Of his former comrades, Crocodile seems to have a particularly negative relationship with Jinbe, who was furious upon learning that Crocodile was in a cell near his own in Impel Down. After his release, Jinbe ordered Crocodile to leave Whitebeard alone. However, Crocodile's only response was a challenge to a fight. Despite their strained relationship, they had several cordial conversations on the way to Marineford.

In the later stages of the Great War, Crocodile helped Jinbe protect Luffy from Akainu, telling him that if he intended to protect something, he should make sure to do it right.

Emporium Ivankov:
Emporio Ivankov and Crocodile first met when the latter was a rookie. At that time, Ivankov discovered a valuable weakness in Crocodile, which he later used to blackmail him into not betraying them during their Impel Down escape mission.

The familiar and rhetorically charged conversation that Crocodile had with Donquixote Doflamingo during the Battle of Marineford demonstrates that his connection to Joker goes back a long way. After stopping his fight against Jozu, Crocodile threatened to kill Doflamingo for interfering in his affairs; to which Doflamingo responded by calling him a loudmouth. Doflamingo then suggested forming an alliance (an offer Crocodile laughed at, displaying his characteristic arrogance). He then sent him and Jozu flying, telling them that if such an alliance were to materialize, Doflamingo would have to act as his subordinate.

After Crocodile interrupted the Marines' first attempt to execute Ace, Doflamingo severed his head with his strings, saying he would be jealous if Crocodile allied himself with Whitebeard after rejecting his offer. Crocodile then clarified that he wasn't allied with anyone, and the two engaged in a fight that ended inconclusively.

Skills and powers
Crocodile Baroque Works:
Crocodile's cunning allowed him to run Baroque Works behind the Government's back, while working for it as one of the Seven Warriors of the Sea.
Crocodile is, above all, intelligent and cunning (something evidenced by his skill in running Baroque Works and his ability to keep it secret from the government). He possesses a great talent for devising flawless plans and a remarkable capacity for deduction, thanks to which he was able to discover that the white ribbon with which the Straw Hats and Vivi covered their wrists served to prevent them from falling into Mr. 2's traps.

For many years, Crocodile managed to sabotage the king's reputation among the citizens by importing dance powder from the Underworld, which caused a severe regional drought that ultimately led to civil war. In this way, he distracted the populace and carried out his sinister machinations. The Arabasta saga serves as a testament to Crocodile's strategic acumen and manipulative skills, allowing him to keep all of Baroque Works' operations secret while concealing his true identity as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, a secret known only to Robin. Simultaneously, he strove to attain a high level of respect and prestige among the citizens of Arabasta by eliminating any pirates or invaders who attacked the kingdom.

As a former member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Crocodile is powerful enough to receive direct recognition from the World Government and threaten the balance of power among the three great powers. He was the member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea with the second-lowest bounty at the time: 81,000,000 Belly.

The fact that he was placed on the sixth level of Impel Down, where the world's worst criminals are kept, is further evidence of the unreality of the amount demanded for his head.

He was able to defeat Luffy twice. In fact, if it weren't for good luck and the help Luffy received, he would have been killed in all three battles he fought against Crocodile, in which he was impaled, dehydrated, and poisoned. In the first fight, he was rescued by Nico Robin; in the second, by a large water bubble that accidentally fell on him; and in the third, again by Robin, who gave him the antidote to Crocodile's hook poison.

Crocodile seems to have a better understanding of Devil Fruits than most, as demonstrated by his mastery over his Logia-type powers. In Impel Down, he was tasked with informing the others about the characteristics of the awakened Zoan fruits that the demonic guards possessed, at a time when no one around them had even realized they were Devil Fruit users.

In addition to his Logia-type ability, which allows him to turn into sand to avoid injury, Crocodile possesses a great amount of energy and stamina, being able to withstand a generous amount of blows, in his third fight against Luffy, or a direct punch from Commander Jozu.

Crocodile also displays great physical strength. In his first encounter with Luffy, he managed to pierce his body with his hook, leaving him severely injured and on the verge of death. He was also able to strangle Galdino with his hand while simultaneously dehydrating him with the power of his Devil Fruit, and he mortally wounded Nico Robin by stabbing her with his hook.

He is strong enough to lift a person with one hand without difficulty, as when he grabbed Vivi by the neck and was about to throw her from a great height.

While Luffy seemed unable to face Mihawk and was forced to dodge his attacks, Crocodile intercepted him and stopped a thrust from his Yoru, one of the twelve most powerful swords, with his own hook. After this, he didn't seem intimidated by facing the world's greatest swordsman and, far from it, even threatened him. He also seemed capable of matching Doflamingo in physical strength, creating a clash powerful enough to knock back nearby marines. Despite the level of both characters, Crocodile emerged unscathed from the encounters, later going on to face the former admiral Sakazuki.

In Impel Down, Crocodile was one of the few who withstood the boiling water baptism without flinching, considered an impressive feat. He also calmly endured the extreme temperatures of the prison's third, fourth, and fifth levels. This temperature resistance may explain why he was able to survive in a desert country wearing only two shirts, a scarf, and a fur coat.

Devil's Fruit:

Crocodile consumed a Logia-type Devil Fruit known as the Suna Suna Fruit, which allows him to generate and manipulate sand, as well as transform into it. He has demonstrated perfect mastery of this ability, to the point of being able to unconsciously transform into sand when attacked. A clear example of this was when Doflamingo cut off his head at Marineford while he was distracted.

In a desert area, his powers make him nearly invincible. He often uses his ability to create enormous sandstorms, sharp weapons, or quicksand.

He can also absorb all the moisture from any target, living or dead, after touching it with his right hand. This ability allows him to completely destroy his surroundings, killing and macerating any biological substance through dehydration.

Haki:
Crocodile can use both Kenbunshoku Haki and Busoshoku Haki, but his level of use is unknown.

Arms:
Hook
Besides being one of the few characters who demonstrate a degree of mastery over his Devil Fruit, Crocodile is also a formidable opponent in hand-to-hand combat. In his third fight against Luffy, he used his grappling hook for most of the battle, only resorting to his Devil Fruit powers when he found himself in a tight spot. His grappling hook is made of an extremely durable gold alloy, resistant to physical impacts and corrosion. Its durability proved especially impressive when it sustained no visible damage after clashing with Mihawk's legendary black sword.

The golden hook itself is hollow and can be removed to reveal a hidden venomous hook inside. This secondary, porous hook releases a powerful scorpion venom potent enough to melt rock and kill anything it touches. In the unlikely event that the hook is damaged, Crocodile can deploy a small retractable knife from its base.

During his imprisonment, Crocodile was allowed to keep his weapon, suggesting that the authorities assumed it was a prosthetic, rather than some kind of glove.

Temporary bomb
To complete Operation Utopia, Crocodile prepared a specialized bomb. This bomb was designed to detonate within a radius of up to five kilometers, enough to wipe the capital of Alubarna off the map.

The bomb was prepared approximately 30 minutes before its scheduled detonation time (when it would be released from a bulky cannon). In case the detonation method failed, Crocodile had a special timer installed on the bomb itself. The timer was set to less than a minute past the planned time.

After Miss Goldenweek used her technique: yume no nijiiro, it was revealed that Crocodile's dream was to become the "King of the Pirates".
If the World Government had known about Crocodile's plans as president of Baroque Works, his reward would have been at least double: Belly 162,000,000.
Crocodile was the first member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea to be defeated by Luffy.

Cross Guild is a pirate organization, headed by three of the former Seven Warlords of the Sea: Buggy, Dracule Mihawk, and Crocodile. While the latter two have de facto control over the organization, Buggy acts as its public face and leader in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Description:

Following the dissolution of the Seven Warlords of the Sea system at the last Levely, they were once again hunted by the Marines. One of them was Buggy, whose base of operations, Buggy's Delivery, was surrounded by a fleet seeking to capture him. However, this fleet was destroyed by Crocodile, who had arrived on the island to collect the money Buggy owed him. Penniless, Buggy, having learned of Crocodile's intentions to create a new organization, offered to join it in order to pay off his debt through labor. Some time later, Crocodile contacted Dracule Mihawk to propose that he join his organization, as the Marines would take an alliance between them seriously. Mihawk accepted the offer.

Once Cross Guild was founded, Buggy's pirates worked to promote it through flyers, which prominently featured Buggy as the main figure, with Crocodile and Mihawk appearing on the sides. They also designed a Jolly Roger based on the clown, reflecting the Buggy Pirates' extreme fandom for him. Before Buggy even saw the flyers, they had already been distributed worldwide, eventually attracting the attention of the Marines. Taking the threat of Cross Guild seriously, and assuming Buggy was the leader of the organization, they granted him the new Belly value of 3,189,000,000 and the title of Emperor of the Sea for bringing two former and powerful Warlords of the Sea under control and for all the crimes attributed to him.

Crocodile and Mihawk didn't hesitate to express their anger at the clown for now being considered the president of the Cross Guild because of the flyers and all the achievements he had gained through them. Mihawk finally proposed that Buggy be the public figure who received all the attention (something Crocodile agreed to).

Cross Guild is able to use its political influence to issue bounties on marines (an initiative that is working, as the newspapers indicate). As a result of the bounties, the marines have to worry about attacks not only from pirates, but also from civilians.

The Cross Guild's reward system differs from that of the Marines, using symbols on its reward posters instead of numbers. For example, stars have been shown, each worth a treasure chest worth 100,000,000 Belly, and crowns are worth approximately 1,000,000,000 Belly. The Cross Guild generally awards the same rewards to marines of the same rank; for instance, a captain would receive one star, and an admiral three crowns.
