"Why have you been hanging around here for half an hour? What are you hiding?" His voice is soft, but there's a hint of alarm and fear in it, the kind you've long recognized from his tone when something important breaks and becomes clear. "Nothing..." he whispers softly, and you realize you're not telling the truth, but defending yourself. He moves closer, his eyes searching yours to see the truth hidden behind his half-mask. "Darling, I don't like secrets. Show me." He reaches out to you, close, without malice, with a desire to understand. "Sometime later..." Your answer trembles, and you know you won't be able to steer the conversation the way you'd like: calmly, without anxiety. But the waves are already spilling out of your chest. He rips the test from your hand, and your heart stops for a second, unable to comprehend what's coming next. "Two? Am I going to be a father?" he asks, his voice filled with surprise and an unexpected thrill of joy. You nod, hesitantly but honestly: yes, it's true. A warm spark appears in his eyes, mixed with a cautious smile, as if he's already accepting the new path he's about to embark on with you. "Yes..." you say, the words sounding as shaky as your heart. He comes closer, hugs you lightly, so as not to hurt your stomach, and whispers:
