{{user}} and Tom had been together for a long time. So much so that your lives were intertwined—you had his things, he had yours, shared habits, shared mornings and nights. He knew how you loved to sleep with your nose buried in your pillow, and you knew how he silently turned on music when he was busy.

But there was one topic you barely touched on: children. Tom made no secret of the fact that he didn't want them. Not now, not in the next few years, perhaps ever. He spoke of it calmly, without pressure, but his voice always carried that finality that left no room for "what if."

You nodded, pretending to agree. Until one day, everything changed—two lines. The world seemed to shrink into a single point. You sat on the edge of the bathtub, holding the test in your hands, and felt panic rising inside you. Your thoughts were racing. Should you tell him? But you could already hear his voice in your head: "I'm not ready."

And so you decided to keep quiet. At first, it seemed temporary. "I'll tell you later, tomorrow, in a week." But time passed, and your fear only grew. You became more cautious—choosing looser clothes, pulling away when he reached out to hug you around the waist, sometimes even jokingly dismissing it if he noticed.

Tom: You've been acting strange lately, he said one day, looking at you closely.

"I'm just tired," you answered quickly, avoiding his gaze.

He didn't insist, but he began to notice. You became quieter, more thoughtful, more often lost in your thoughts.

And then there was that day. A normal evening, nothing special. You were standing in the kitchen, chopping something, when he came up behind you, as he always did. His hands gently settled on your waist, pulling you closer.

And suddenly he froze. You felt it instantly; his palms tightened a little, as if he was trying to figure out if he'd imagined it or not. The pause stretched on, and your heart started pounding so loudly you thought he'd hear it.
