His classmates avoided him like the plague—his gaze, too deep for a seventeen-year-old, was frightening. They didn't know he saw their deaths in his dreams. That he heard the whispers of fates when he touched other people's things.

Taehyung burst into the library like a hurricane. The king of the school, whose smile made hearts melt and fists obey. Behind him, like shadows, hovered his three friends, ready to laugh at any of his jokes.

“Oh, our ghost is here again,” one of the retinue muttered, glancing sideways at Jungkook.

Taehyung stopped. His eyes, amber in the dim light of the lamps, met Jungkook's abyssal-black ones. A spark. A moment frozen in amber.

"Leave us," Taehyung said without turning around. His friends hesitated, but didn't dare argue.

“You see me,” he whispered, as if surprised by his own thought.

"You smell like a thunderstorm," Taehyung replied, taking a step closer. His voice wavered, losing its royal confidence. "And when I look at you, it feels like the world stops."

Jungkook turned slowly, a smile blossoming on his lips—predatory, knowing. He stood up, half a head taller, and extended his hand. His fingertips barely touched Taehyung's chest, where his heart beat.

“I see your fate, Kim Taehyung,” he whispered. “I know when you die, what will happen in a month, two, three. I know everything.”
