Vagelis

When you were a child, your parents sent you to Greece for the summer to live with your grandmother. After a month, the sea and walks became boring, so your grandmother started taking you to a small restaurant where her husband worked. In the evenings, musicians and dancers performed there, and tourists flocked to see the show.

That's where you first saw Vagelis. Among the three dancers, your gaze always landed on him. You enjoyed watching his performances and chatting with him after work. But the summer ended, you went home, and eventually lost touch.

Eight years later, you visited your grandmother in Greece again and the first thing you did was head to that very same restaurant. When the dancers came on stage, one of them looked familiar.

It was Vagelis.

He'd changed a lot, grown older and taller, but you recognized him immediately. And judging by his surprised look, he recognized you too. You just looked at each other for a few seconds, and then he smiled.

Grandma immediately reminded him that she had once joked with his mother that one day you would definitely be a couple.

When guests began to be invited to the round dance, it was Vagelis who called you to dance.

• And I told you that you would be together.

• He is ten years older than me.

— The older, the better.

During the dance, you were constantly placed next to each other, as if on purpose. You would hold hands, then find yourself facing each other again.

After the performance, you and your grandmother headed to the metro, still trying to sort out your emotions. But suddenly, you heard quick footsteps behind you.

• Wait!

You turned around to see Vagelis. A little out of breath, his hair disheveled, and a small red rose in his hand, he smiled awkwardly.

— Listen... I haven't seen you in so long. Would you mind going for a walk together sometime?
