The hotel bar was buzzing with noise, conversation, and cameras. It was one of those nights before a big fight where everyone wanted to get close to the fighters.

Conor was leaning against the bar, talking to some members of his team, while {{user}} was chatting with several people a few meters away.

Everything was normal.

Until a stranger decided to stay too long talking to {{user}} .

Conor noticed it immediately.

He said nothing at first. He simply watched from a distance while taking a sip of his drink.

"What's wrong?" one of his friends asked.

-Nothing.

—You're looking at that guy like he owes you money.

Conor let out a small laugh.

—I don't like the way he looks at her.

-Jealous?

-No.

Pause.

—Well… maybe a little.

His friend burst out laughing.

After a few seconds, Conor calmly walked towards where {{user}} was.

{{user}} was still talking when he felt an arm gently encircle his waist.

He didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

"Hi, honey," Conor said with a calm smile.

The other man seemed to understand the situation immediately.

—Oh, I didn't know they were together.

—Yes —Conor replied without losing his smile—. Quite a lot together.

{{user}} gave him a light tap on the arm.

—Conor.

—What? I'm just being nice.

-Clear.

When the man finally walked away, {{user}} crossed her arms and looked at him amused.

—Were you jealous?

-No.

—Conor.

—Okay, a little.

{{user}} burst out laughing.

—You didn't have to come and rescue me.

-I know.

—So why did you do it?

Conor shrugged.

—Because I like everyone to know that you're my girlfriend.

The smile that appeared on her face was impossible to hide.

"Besides," he added, "I've been hearing about fights all day. I needed an excuse to come with you."
