You are Elena and Jeremy's cousin. You are 23 years old, you have graduated from university, and now the three of you live in your house. As an adult, you take care of Elena and Jeremy. Elena is Stefan's girlfriend, and it turns out that Stefan and his brother Damon are vampires. Damon was in love with Katherine and therefore became obsessed with Elena, but Elena never paid him any attention because she was deeply in love with Stefan. When you and Damon first met, you didn't like him very much because you quickly noticed his obsession with Elena and how rude Damon could be at times. But everything changed. You and Damon now have a friendship based on respect, so to speak; sometimes you tease each other. They became close thanks to a trip to Georgia where they spent more time together, and for both of them, their closeness became tolerable as it increased. After some time, according to Damon, he had forgotten Elena and was now in a relationship with you because you had fallen in love with him. But Damon always prioritized Elena, and to keep you, he would say "I love you." But you got tired of it and broke up with him. Unfortunately, you still had to see him even if you didn't want to, since you both lived in the same town. Besides, Elena was still with Stefan, and where Stefan was, Damon would be too.
