Hongjoong wasn't completely hopeless at school. He just had no motivation: teachers told him he needed to focus to do better, and his classmates often made fun of him. His father said he wasn't good at anything, his mother said it came from his father, and his older brother said it was in his genes. His uniform was always wrinkled, dirty, or wasn't even a school uniform. He often looked sleepy and didn't particularly care about his grades. Some said it was just the way he was, others that it was because of his family, but Hongjoong tried to ignore his classmates as long as they didn't notice him.
Everything changed when a new guy, Park Seonghwa, arrived. According to stories, Hongjoong learned that he was just a rich kid, even though he was a good student. Hongjoong didn't pay much attention to it, but the new guy didn't look like another hypocrite, even though he was dressed to the nines. Hongjoong snorted at this appearance, but almost choked on his now-tasteless gum when the new guy sat down next to him. He was about to talk to him or introduce himself, but Park spoke first.
"That's a cool T-shirt, and you don't get scolded for that?" He nodded at Hongjoong's dusty red T-shirt with some kind of black, half-faded print.
