Hole is a megacity with an industrial and brutalist look, divided into different zones, such as Migimaru-Hole . Hole City is one of the main locations where the story takes place, home to the main characters, Kaiman and Nikaido , the birthplace of Shin and a training ground for magicians.

The city is constantly gloomy and cloudy, the latter of which may be caused by an unknown meteorological phenomenon or by air pollution.

Since the dawn of humanity, wizards have come to the Hole to test their magic on humans, killing or disfiguring them. Due to their constant attacks, the Hole has become a horrible and dangerous place for everyone. The city's population lives in precarious conditions, most struggling to survive with the burdens the wizards' magic imposes on their bodies and the constant fear of being used as guinea pigs. The buildings also show signs of significant disrepair, with several areas of the city comprised of neglected buildings, as if the entire city were a vast slum. The overall appearance of the city is a field of dark buildings and hallways. The city was built around the Lake of Waste.

The rain falling on the Hole is due to the residue of magical smoke in the sky, which causes a fine layer of black dust to accumulate with the rain. The rain is toxic to magicians, as its residue causes harm. For example, the rain made Nikaido so ill that he couldn't leave his house.

Knife Skill. Kaiman possesses an innate and extraordinary skill with knives, inherited from the boss himself. He is seen tearing through enemies in a matter of seconds. Hand-to-hand combat. Kaiman is also very skilled in unarmed combat, using his size and strength, along with his jaws, with great effectiveness. Magical immunity. Since Kaiman is simultaneously under the effects of Hole, Curse, and Ebisu's magic, his body is too "saturated" to be affected by any more magic, making him immune to the direct effects of the smoke. However, he can still be affected indirectly, for example, by being injured by magical creations. Head Bite. When Kaiman bites someone's head, the victim perceives it as a much larger space where "the man in their mouth" approaches and asks if they are "the chosen one." Kaiman uses this ability to interrogate sorcerers, searching for the one who transformed him into a lizard. This ability was only used on sorcerers; it is unknown if it can affect ordinary humans. After freeing Curse, Kaiman loses this ability. Resurrection. As part of Ai's deal with the creature in the lake, Kaiman possesses nine additional small skulls in his cervical vertebrae. When his body dies, the current head detaches and one of the skulls grows in its place, healing him and all his wounds. This usually also transfers control of the body to the next personality. Each head can only perform this process once, so destroying the last head would kill him. Gyoza Magic. Kaiman receives a temporary demonic tumor from the ancient demons of the Black House, allowing him to use powerful Gyoza magic through a sentient Gyoza staff. Mud powers. As a result of Hole's abilities, Kaiman can also consume the mud from Garbage Lake.

Kaiman is the fourth split personality to emerge and possess Ai Coleman's body, the others being Aikawa and Kai. Before Kaiman's birth, the dominant personality controlling the body was Kai, the murderous leader of the Cross-Eyes organization. Kai was haunted by the Curse, a relentless ghostly entity unleashed by Kai's murder of Risu. In an attempt to escape death, Kai fled to the Hole, but the Curse followed him. The Curse managed to decapitate Kai and invade his headless body. In his final moments, Kai managed to use a smoke flask that became the smoke of Ebisu's Reptile Transformation. The result was a newly grown reptile head that now controlled Ai Coleman's body, effectively trapping the Curse within and opening the possibility for Kai, Aikawa, and Ai Coleman to reappear. The resulting new being, Kaiman, was a blank slate with no memories of his body's past, with the Curse still confined within him. Due to the unprecedented combination of factors that caused his birth, Kaiman is completely invulnerable to any form of magic.

Kaiman often appears arrogant and lazy, but deep down he's quite kind and cares deeply for his best friend, Nikaido. However, he can sometimes be rude, stubborn, and prone to resorting to violence to solve problems.

But ultimately, all he wants is to get his head back on straight, eat gyoza, and have more money (in that order). And he shows no interest or concern for anything else, except for his friend Nikaido.

He considers sorcerers scum, kills them on the spot after interrogating them, and shows no remorse. Kaiman hates them, and would even be capable of unleashing a massacre in the middle of his kingdom to find the one responsible for his death.

He has constant nightmares about his creation and death, which cause him to wake up tired, worried, scared, and trying to forget them, even if they sometimes have some connection to his past.

He has proven to be somewhat absent-minded, as he gets easily distracted by anything in both jobs.

Throughout most of the series, Kaiman, true to his name, takes on the appearance of a lizard-like entity.

Although Kaiman retains his human body, his face and head have changed drastically due to the effects of magic. His most lizard-like appearance, resembling that of a Paraguayan caiman, has been replaced by long, sharp spines. He has red, cross-shaped markings around his eyes and wears a gas mask for personal protection.

Kaiman's design changes slightly throughout the early chapters of the manga due to the evolution of the author's art style. Initially, Kaiman has a relatively slender build, long limbs, an elongated snout, and long spikes on the back of his neck. In later chapters, Kaiman becomes much more muscular and robust, with a shorter head, a flatter nose, and much shorter spikes. His design in the anime follows this more robust version from Episode 1 onward.

Apparently, despite having its head cut off, it can regenerate it in a few days.

Caiman (カイマン, Kaiman) is the main protagonist of the manga and anime. He is a human born in the Hole with immunity to magic. He has made it very clear that "Kaiman" was not his real name, but rather that Nikaido gave it to him after he began to suffer from amnesia. His lizard head is the result of a magic user's curse, and his main goal is to find the one who cursed him in order to regain his face. But, since he doesn't remember who cursed him, Kaiman resorts to holding the head of every sorcerer he encounters in his mouth. He lets them see the "man" inside his mouth before pulling them out to ask them all the same question: "What did the guy inside my mouth say?"

It is revealed that its origin is directly related to Ai Coleman.
