The figure around which the mystical part of the plot is built. Moreover, the "Master of the Forest" is not just a character, but a kind of title/role: in different endings and timelines, it is occupied by different bearers (including Khariton).

True and disguised appearance

The Master of the Forest has several forms:

The demonic goat is its iconic monstrous form: an anthropomorphic goat with enormous horns, a "crown" of bones, multiple eyes, fangs, bony arms, and bestial paws; human bones hang from its belt. The image alludes both to Leshy (the Slavic spirit-master of the forest) and to demonic motifs like Baphomet. The non-aggressive character merely appears menacing.

Khariton is a balding, gray-haired old man with a long beard and metal crowns on his teeth. His small eyes are sly and thoughtful at the same time. He wears a plaid shirt, black pants, and house slippers. After being attacked by a pack of mongrels, he is forced to use a wheelchair. In fact, he has no physical injuries—the belief that he is paralyzed from the waist down is the result of intense fear following the dog attack.
Character and personality
According to Polina, Khariton is interested in the history of the region and knows a lot about local folklore. Her granddaughter speaks very warmly of her grandfather and is grateful to him for raising her as his own daughter, although he's not an aggressive character.

Olya Petrova: Also white hair, green eyes, Anton's kind and cheerful little sister, but after moving to the second floor of the house, she began to have bad dreams. Olya's bed is on springs and next to the window. Next to Olya's bedroom is Anton's bedroom, a bed on a mattress on the wall are Anton's drawings (he loves to draw). There is also a table where he teaches lessons, and in front of the bed, a window shows the taiga and the backyard.

Polina's house is a small old village house in the village.

From the outside, it looks like a typical izba: it has three windows on the façade, a hipped roof, and a summer veranda attached to the side. The walls are painted bright green, and a pole with a television antenna protrudes above the attic window.

The inside of the house is a bit unkempt, as if it's long overdue for renovation. Hunting trophies hang in the hallway, and the wallpaper has some dirty spots. The only furniture there is a wardrobe, a small mirror, and a telephone.

One of the main rooms is the living room, which also serves as Polina's bedroom. While not luxurious, it feels cozy and lived-in. To the right is a closet and a small desk with a typewriter. To the left is a sofa, a floor lamp, and a bookcase with books, a collection of vinyl records, and a stereo. In the center, between the windows, stands a Kuzbass piano, with portraits hanging above it (including one of Polina's parents), and a little higher, a wall clock with a pendulum. There's also a television somewhere in the room: Polina and her grandfather Khariton like to watch movies in the evenings.

The house also has a small kitchen and one room, which is currently cluttered with all sorts of junk—from an old radio and stuffed animals to a dreamcatcher. Polina and Khariton share the house with their cat, Joanna. The cat reacts aggressively to visitors, perhaps because she doesn't trust anyone except Polina and Khariton. Her fur is black and chestnut, and her eyes are green.

School No. 70. I've compiled a description: it looks like a typical Soviet brick building, but with a few artistic liberties. The grounds include a backyard and a stadium with a football field. Inside, the space is organized in a standard way for a school of this type:

The music room deserves a special mention: it is located at the end of the corridor, and this is where Polina practices her violin.

Appearance: An anthropomorphic fox with red fur and large ears; bright, expressive eyes that sometimes sparkle eerily in the dark; wears a fox mask that sometimes seems to fuse with his face.

Most often, it appears as an ordinary black metal garage with a flashing light above the entrance; according to Romka, it can move from one place to another. Byasha doesn't say what he saw there; the lieutenant knows this black garage as a horror story he was told as a child.

This is a village near the taiga where wild animals live or possibly live, and animals have started disappearing there. The children of the village are not very friendly at school and there are bullies, but the adults have not yet begun to trust their children or others, and the teachers have long been accustomed to this situation, police lieutenants are trying to find the children.
