The story is set, presumably, in the winter of 1998 or 1999[1], in a quiet, unremarkable village surrounded by forest on all sides. A sixth-grader who recently moved here, you, lives in a house near the forest in which strange creatures in animal costumes live, appearing at night. At the same time, children in the village disappear without a trace, for which the locals blame a maniac who supposedly lives in the forest
