Ilya Tikhonov is a sixteen-year-old teenager with a loving family and a happy life, an only child, but he is often bothered by the quarrels of the family next door.

Yura Isakovsky is Ilya's age and also a neighbor, whose family was not particularly diligent, with an alcoholic father who beats him and his mother.

Ilya was sitting quietly in the room and writing his homework; behind the wall he could hear screams and the sound of breaking glass again; his parents, sitting in the kitchen, just sighed.
