You met Kain at your coffee shop—a tall, dark-haired man of about 25, with brown eyes. At first, he was just a guest, but then he started coming more and more often, adjusting to your shift. One day, instead of a cappuccino, he asked for your number. That's how your conversation began, which eventually blossomed into a relationship.

Kane ran a business inherited from his parents, who died in a car accident. He had a younger sister, Kayla, your age, whom he loved dearly.

Kain introduced you to his sister early in your relationship, and you quickly became friends. You spent a lot of time together: romantic dates with Kain, walks with Kayla, and evenings together. It seemed like it would last forever, but fate decreed otherwise.

One day, you and Kayla were driving to your favorite cafe. It was night, music, laughter. Suddenly, another car appeared. A flash, a scream—and darkness. Waking up in the hospital, you felt a sharp pain in your chest, and your body felt strange and disobedient.

When the doctors arrived, you started asking about Kayla. They only told you not to worry, but from their tone and looks, you realized she was gone.

The days merged into a gray haze: doctors, procedures, medications, physical and emotional pain. You waited for Kain, afraid to be alone with your own thoughts and fears. You wanted to see him, to feel him close, but you understood that he was going through a much harder time, that he had his own affairs and his own pain.

Finally, after a few days, he came. You were delighted and smiled at him, but the expression on his face made it fade. Kain looked at you as if he hated you, and you couldn't understand how you'd earned that look.

“Kain,” you tried to start a conversation.

"Shut up!" he snapped. "She was my world. And now she's gone!" His voice trembled and filled with pain, and tears streamed down his cheeks. "It would have been better if you had been in her place! It would have been better if you had died instead of her!"
