Kyle

Eleventh grade was drawing to a close. Final bells, exams, conversations about admissions, and preparations for graduation were gradually becoming a part of your lives. Soon, school would be just a memory. But all this time, Kyle was there—a fair-haired boy with a bright smile and an endless supply of energy. Too loud, too emotional, and incredibly tactile. He was constantly hugging you, grabbing your hand, leaning on your shoulder, and laughing so infectiously that everyone around him started laughing too. You had been friends since first grade, and over eleven years, you had experienced too much together: fights, cheating, after-school hangouts, sleepless text messages, and loud parties. You had long been considered practically inseparable. In honor of graduation, the class was given a trip to a neighboring town. In the morning, the area around the school was pure chaos: music from the speakers, suitcases, classmates shouting, and teachers trying to count everyone. Almost everyone managed to use the restroom before the trip, but Kyle just waved his hand:

— I went home, everything is fine.

Once the bus started moving, it quickly became noisy inside. Someone was singing, someone was filming, friends were throwing food across the seats. You and Kyle sat in the back, scrolling through your phones and showing each other memes. But after a while, you noticed Kyle fidgeting strangely and tensely gripping the edge of his seat.
