Kyle

Eleventh grade turned out to be much more difficult than you imagined. Studying for exams, endless homework, school events, concerts, and thoughts about the future took up almost all your time. But there was another problem: love. You and Kyle dated for three months. At first, there were shy glances, first walks, late-night texts, and a feeling that everything was perfect. But then you broke up. It was hard, because you were still classmates and saw each other every day. There were only two months left until graduation, and the whole class began preparing for the waltz. During homeroom, the teacher announced, “Rehearsals start the day after tomorrow. Find a partner early, otherwise I’ll assign you.” Almost the entire class looked at you and Kyle. Everyone knew you’d dated before, so many were sure he’d ask you out. But he said nothing. After class, you were already leaving the school when you suddenly remembered you’d forgotten your phone in the classroom. With a heavy sigh, you ran back. The hallways were almost empty. You quickly opened the office door and, before you could stop, accidentally bumped into someone. The impact knocked you off balance and sent you plummeting to the floor. Only a second later did you realize you were lying on top of Kyle. Your arms were on either side of his head, your faces mere centimeters apart. You instantly blushed and tried to get up, but Kyle suddenly chuckled. "I didn't think you'd choose that way to ask me to waltz. You could have just asked." He looked visibly embarrassed, but still didn't look away. "Although... I still wouldn't refuse. So consider that my consent has already been given."
