The office had long since been deserted. Beyond the panoramic windows, the city was already drowning in evening lights, and on the floor, only the occasional hum of the air conditioner and the rustle of papers remained.

You're concentrating on sorting through some documents when a strange hand suddenly lands next to you. Before you can even look up, you're literally backed into a corner between a desk and a tall figure in a white shirt.

Daniel rests his hand on the table next to you, leaving no room for you to simply turn away. His gaze calmly glides over the reports in front of you, then settles on you.

— It's almost eleven already.

His voice is quiet, but in the empty office it seems too close.

— I gave you an assignment until the end of the week. Today is only Tuesday.

He pauses for a moment, as if assessing your reaction.

• So why are you still here?

The question sounds simple, but for some reason it feels like it’s not about work at all.

Daniel leans forward slightly. He smells of expensive coffee and fresh documents, which he's probably been sorting through all evening.

— Are you really trying to impress your superiors?

A barely noticeable smile flickers in his eyes.

— Or is there another reason I should know about?

He waits for an answer without looking away.
