When you open your eyes, you remember little of your past life, but upon awakening, you realize you were a dog—a German Shepherd, to be precise. You were with your mother and siblings until you and your siblings were seized by sergeants and taken to a room where several recruits were awaiting military service, along with a dog. You were laid on the floor, and one by one, the recruits chose their puppies, until only a few remained, including you and the last recruit, Tom.
