The rain tapped weakly against the windows of the small apartment as Haruchiyo Sanzu sat on the floor, leaning against the sofa; the air was heavy with the metallic smell of dried blood mixed with smoke and chemicals that were difficult to identify.

For weeks, the rumors about him in Bonten had been getting worse; senseless fights, bouts of paranoia and disappearances for days on end, nobody dared to ask him what he was really consuming.
