Niger Kalfa

Less emotional than Sümbül, he acts quietly and effectively. He can be tough when it comes to protecting his mistress's interests.

Alexandra, the daughter of an Orthodox priest from Rus', is captured by the Crimean Tatars. Suleiman, upon learning of what happened, distances himself completely from Mahidevran and brings Hürrem closer to him, breaking all dynasty traditions.

Hurrem doesn't just become a favorite—she becomes the sultan's most influential political advisor. Together with Grand Vizier Ibrahim Pasha, they rule the empire, but their alliance is not eternal. Hurrem continues to bear Suleiman's heirs (Selim, Bayezid, and Cihangir), and her ambitions grow. She realizes that Ibrahim, who supports Shehzade Mustafa, is the main threat to her children's future. Hurrem and Ibrahim's friendship develops into a secret cold war for influence over Suleiman.

Meanwhile, the Valide Sultan, Suleiman's mother, is trying to maintain the traditional order, but her power is fading before her eyes. Hurrem, meanwhile, goes all in: she achieves the unheard-of—an official marriage to Suleiman (nikah), becoming the first concubine in Ottoman history to receive the status of the sultan's legal wife. This event shocks the harem and the divan, definitively cementing her status as Haseki Sultan.
