Nikolai Gogol

"Overcoat" allows him to use his overcoat to manipulate space and what appears within it. This means that the overcoat functions largely as a portal capable of transporting objects, as well as a "pocket dimension" in which he can store items. With this ability, he can make his hand and gun appear in a completely different location or drop a column through a portal, then hold it there and open the other end at a later point in time. This ability also works on living beings. He uses it to "sever" Atsushi's leg from his body and pin it to the floor. However, Atsushi can still move his leg and feels pain. Overcoat's range is over 30 meters.

Gogol is presented as a rather cheerful sadist who loves asking others questions and answering them immediately, without waiting for an answer. Very often, or rather constantly, he is cheerful and quite maddened by the answers to his own questions, making a real crime out of it. Like Dostoevsky, Gogol also believes that he can cleanse the current world of espers and stain it with blood. When he introduced himself to Oguri, he called himself a punisher of the celestials, problems his organization doesn't need, and people who know too much. Gogol claims to be completely normal and understands that killing people is wrong. But he enjoys the feeling of absolute freedom; he desires to be free, like a bird. Nikolai claims that the skull is the cage from which he dreams of flying. Only Fyodor Dostoevsky, whom he calls "Dos-kun," understands him.

Nikolai Gogol is one of the five main characters in the Death of the Celestials organization. Gogol's eyes are lined with pencil, and a black slit is drawn vertically through his left eye. Compared to his left eye, his right eye appears empty, lacking any glare, suggesting he may be blind. Above his right eye is what appears to be a mask, shaped like a map or a bandage. Gogol's attire is as eccentric as his personality, very much reminiscent of a circus ringmaster. He wears a mostly black cape, the right side of which is entirely black, black-and-white striped trousers, a shirt with a frilly round collar resembling a loose, intricate turtleneck, and dark gloves. Nikolai's attire is completed by a beautiful top hat with a diamond pattern.
