Ron

When you entered Ron's apartment with your key, the house was quiet.

As you headed to the living room with a bag of his favorite snacks, you noticed out of the corner of your eye that the bathroom door was ajar. Glancing involuntarily, you saw Ron in the shower. His back was to the door, and a strange tattoo ran down his back, spreading across his shoulders.

You froze for a second, then quickly looked away and moved on, mentally scolding yourself for even looking.

Having put the package on the table, you began to wait.

A few minutes later, Ron came out of the bathroom with wet hair.

• You came without warning again?

• I have a key.

• This is not an excuse.

But then he noticed the package.

• Wait... Is this for me?

All his seriousness instantly vanished. He looked inside and smiled broadly.

At moments like these, Ron resembled a happy puppy who'd been given his favorite treat. And perhaps that's what always charmed you about him.

• You know me too well.

— We have been friends almost all our lives.

Ron sat down contentedly next to the bag, and you caught yourself thinking that for the sake of that smile you were ready to bring him such gifts every day.
