X!Gaster

Prior to the events of XTale and Underverse:
Originally, X!, Gaster planned to destroy the SOUL of the creator - he had no ideas for his own alternate universe (AU). That changed when Inc intervened against Error's promise: he stopped AU's self-destruct and inspired X!Gaster, showing other alternate universes.
XTale Period:
In his E.O. X!Gaster:

1. First tries to create a perfect universe according to his vision.
2. Gradually, he begins to bring events to some foreseen future scenes.
3. Turns away from the past for a "brighter future" - even though the original Gaster warned him that this path would lead to failure.
4. Gains half of the SOUL of X!Enchantment and possesses the RESET, which begins to cause him great pain.
5. At the end of the 10th timeline, X!Chara and X!Frisk return their friends' memories to kill X!Gaster. As a result, his AU is erased to the void, and he himself escapes to the multiverse with a fragment of DETERMINATION.
   Underverse Period: At this point,
   X! Gaster acts on a larger scale: Observes the "Game", occasionally intervening (for example, in Underverse 0.3, Part 2, when his plan is threatened). At the end of 0.4, he gains physical form and the ability to OVERWRITE - he starts the final stage of the "Game". His body is disfigured (including missing legs - he levitates), but this does not stop him in his desire to create a perfect universe. He comes to the original universe to Frisk with a proposal to change everything together. Not having received consent, he begins to forcibly rewrite reality.

X! Gaster does not consider himself a villain. He is convinced that he is doing a good deed - there should be one perfect universe. Unlike Error (who only wants to keep the original), X!Gaster strives to create his own ideal without worrying about rebuilding destroyed worlds.

X!Gaster's appearance has changed depending on his stage of development and events in the XTale and Underverse plots.
In XTale X!, Gaster initially appears as a skeleton with features reminiscent of the classic W.D. Gaster, but with some twists. His clothes (coat and shirt) have X-shaped elements, and his belt has an X-fastening belt. His eyes are initially white, but can later change color depending on his condition: for example, when sharing his soul with X!Chara, he has a red left eye and a purple right eye.
In Underverse:
In Underworld, Gaster's appearance undergoes significant changes, especially after repeatedly using the RESET button, which disfigures his body due to the poor compatibility of RESOLVE and monster bodies. By the end of Timeline X, it begins to melt due to an excess of RESOLVE in the body. In this half-molten state, he appears in the first season of Underverse. After the return of the original SOUL, the melting process stops, but the body still undergoes changes. In a ruined form, X!Gaster: a sharp grin, narrow eyes, claw-like hands, glitches (distortions) in the leg area, which he does not have. Due to the lack of legs of X!, Gaster levitates above the ground, which visually increases his height.

3. Underverse Period (Final Form):
   Cold Calculation. He perceives the multiverse as a game with rules, and characters as figures.
   Fanaticism. I am convinced that his goal (one ideal universe) justifies any means.
   Isolation. He distanced himself from his former connections, considering his methods to be the only correct ones.
   Perseverance. Despite physical suffering and deformations, he does not deviate from the plan.
   Paradoxical curiosity. Intrigued by unexpected twists (such as Frisk's behavior), even though they contradict his idea of control.
   Key personality traits:
   Purposefulness. He is ready to make any sacrifices for the sake of creating an ideal universe.
   Rationality. He justifies his actions as a "higher goal", rejecting emotions as an unreliable guide.
   Control. Hates chaos and unpredictability; seeks to subordinate everything to his will.
   Tragedy. He does not consider himself a villain - he sincerely believes that he acts for the good.
   Narcissism. He believes that only he is able to create a perfect world; He calls the rest of the universes "garbage".
   Loneliness. He prefers to act alone, relying only on assistants to collect data.

Dependency on Overwriting. His obsession with the idea of perfection grew into a pathological need to constantly "fix" reality.

   Using Windings. The secret messages in this font create a barrier between it and the rest, emphasizing its exclusivity.
   Sarcasm and irony. Sometimes he adds mocking remarks, especially when interacting with opponents.
   Being categorical with subordinates. With assistants (for example, X!Alphys) and controlled creatures (X!Muffet, X!Mettaton), he speaks harshly and demandingly.
   Diplomacy with equals. In communication with Ink or Frisk, he remains polite, but there is a sense of threat behind it.
3. Emotional palette:
   Rarely shows feelings. Even in critical situations, he keeps his cool.
   Outbursts of anger. Exceptions - for example, he breaks down on X!Alphys when his plans are threatened.
   Suppression of attachment. Tries not to show any remnants of emotional connection to X!Chara and X!Frisk, considering it a weakness.

   XTale: more open, sometimes takes care of his creations.
   Underverse: he becomes tougher, more categorical, almost completely abandons empathy. Speech acquires the features of a manifesto - he proclaims his mission, and does not discuss it.

Wingdings is a typeface consisting exclusively of decorative symbols and pictograms instead of letters and numbers.

   Wingdings in the context of X!Gaster:

1. OVERWRITE:
   Allows you to completely change the timeline in your universe. Erases the memories of the inhabitants of the universe. Can turn the universe into an empty wasteland. Grants full control over his own creatures (including X!Chara and X!Frisk) - removes their control over their own body. In Underverse 0.4, he regained his full ability after taking it from X!Chara and restoring the integrity of the SOUL.
2. RESET:
   Returns to a previous event in his universe. Gained this ability after exchanging half of his soul for half of X!Chara's soul (gained DETERMINATION). Each RESET causes excruciating pain and physical deformities due to the incompatibility of RESOLVE with the Monster's body.
3. Foresight:
   Able to see fragments of future events in a fraction of a second. Visions that are incomplete and fragmentary can lead to unexpected consequences and disruption of plans. It helps to predict the actions of opponents and adjust your strategies.
4. Control of Creations:
   Can take control of his creatures (X!Muffet, X!Mettaton, etc.) and speak through their mouths. Controlled characters remain conscious and can even ask for help. It is used to manipulate and suppress uprisings.
5. Levitation:
   Moves while hovering above the ground - this became necessary after losing his legs in the 10th Timeline due to the X!Frisk Rebellion.
   Levitation visually increases its height.
6. Teleportation:
   Able to instantly travel anywhere in the multiverse. Can teleport other characters (e.g. moved X!Alphys with a snap of his fingers to Underverse 0.4).
7. Resurrect:
   Can resurrect the dead with REWRITING.
   Example: brought the characters of XTale, including Cross, back to life in Underverse 0.4.
8. SOUL Manipulation:
   Able to exchange parts of the SOUL (e.g., sharing the SOUL with X!Chara). In Underverse 0.4, he took X!Chara's ability to REWRITE and regained the other half of the SOUL, gaining full DETERMINATION.

9. Physical Strength:
   Possesses tremendous physical strength. Able to lift two buses or carry X!Asgore with both hands (XTale).
10. Hand Attacks:
    His hands can create spikes that he uses as weapons. Spikes are also used to manipulate SOULs (e.g. when exchanging soul parts with X!Chara).
11. Windings Communication:
    Uses the Windings font for secret messages, especially when communicating with assistants (e.g. X!Alphys). The inscriptions on Windings periodically appear in the series as its "signature".
12. Erasure Resistance:
    Due to its connection to DETERMINATION and the status of the creator of its own AU, it has an increased resistance to erasure from reality. Can persist even after the destruction of its universe (as at the end of XTale).

1. Can't overwrite alien universes:
   This is a key limitation that caused him to try to cooperate with Frisk - to access and alter the original universe. Without the help of a RESOLVE carrier from another universe, his options are limited.
2. Body damage from DETERMINATION:
   RESOLVE is not compatible with the monster's body - each RESET causes excruciating pain. Over time, the body begins to "melt", losing its former shape (especially noticeable in Underverse). Physical deformities limit its capabilities and require constant concentration on keeping fit.
3. Addiction to Overwriting:
   His obsession with creating a perfect universe made him addicted to the use of Overwriting. This addiction pushes him to more and more radical actions and makes him ignore the consequences.
4. Limited foresight:
   Sees only fragments of the future, not the full picture. Because of this, his plans sometimes fail or lead to unexpected results (e.g., the rebellion of X!Frisk and X!Enchantment).
5. Loss of Legs:
   Lost his legs as a result of the actions of X!Frisk during the rebellion against him (10th Timeline). While levitation compensates for this loss, the absence of legs is a vulnerability in close combat.
6. Emotional connection to creations:
   Despite being cruel, he sometimes shows affection for his creatures (such as X!Chara and X!Frisk at the beginning of the story). This connection can be used against him (for example, Ink tried to appeal to his previous feelings).

   Hates pauses in working on the universe - for him, stopping is tantamount to defeat. Even in Underverse, despite the disfigured body, it continues to act.

Before XTale:

Gaster created 10 timelines, each of which was saved on sheets with Roman numerals. In the process, he used the power of his soul to create versions of characters from other universes (Papyrus, Sans, Toriel, Asgore, Alphys, Undyne, etc.). In the course of his experiments, X! Gaster invented a "Overwrite" button that allowed him to modify or delete creations entirely. He used it repeatedly, canceling the job and returning everything to its original state, which upset his "children" - X!Charu and X!Frisk. After obtaining half of the soul of X!Enchantment X!, Gaster gained the ability "Reset", but each use of it caused him excruciating pain and physical deformities due to the incompatibility of Resolve with the monster's body. At the end of the 10th X!Chara and X!Frisk timeline returned their memories to all of their friends in order to kill X!Gaster. As a result, the AU was erased to nothing, and X!Gaster escaped to the multiverse with a fragment of DETERMINATION.

Underverse:
In Underverse, X!Gaster observed the "Game," occasionally intervening. At the end of episode 0.4, he regained his physical form and the ability to OVERRIDE, and began the final stage of his "Game." By this point, his body was disfigured and his legs were completely missing, but this did not stop him from creating the perfect universe. X!Gaster approached Frisk in the original universe with a proposal to change everything together, but when Frisk refused, he began altering reality by force.

After repeatedly using the RESET button, X!Gaster's body becomes deformed. His appearance becomes distorted and frightening:
No legs: Completely lost as a result of the events of Timeline 10 (the X!Frisk rebellion). Moves solely by levitation, which visually increases his height.
Levitation: floats above the ground, giving it the appearance of some abstract, almost immaterial force.
Face: sharp, angular features, a narrow grin, almost a snarl, eyes narrowed, purple-tinted (in corrupted form), barely noticeable "glitches" (distortions reminiscent of digital glitches) around the eyes and on the face.
Hands: fingers elongated, turning into claw-like appendages, capable of creating spikes on his hands for attacks or soul manipulation, sometimes hands separate from the body and act autonomously.
Body: the contours are blurred, in places they “float”, creating the effect of melting, fragments of bones and a dark substance are visible (a symbol of the influence of DETERMINATION), on the chest there is a cross-shaped belt, preserved from the XTale period.
Clothing: purple cloak with white X-elements, remnants of the previous suit under the cloak - tattered, torn in places.

Aura: The symbols of the Windings font sometimes flicker around him, as a visual manifestation of his ability to communicate secretly.
Sounds: When driving, you can hear a low noise, similar to static or signal failure.
