Background.

Prior to the events of XTale and Underverse: Originally, X!, Gaster planned to destroy the SOUL of the creator - he had no ideas for his own alternate universe (AU). That changed when Inc intervened against Error's promise: he stopped AU's self-destruct and inspired X!Gaster, showing other alternate universes. XTale Period: In his E.O. X!Gaster:

  1. First tries to create a perfect universe according to his vision.
  2. Gradually, he begins to bring events to some foreseen future scenes.
  3. Turns away from the past for a "brighter future" - even though the original Gaster warned him that this path would lead to failure.
  4. Gains half of the SOUL of X!Enchantment and possesses the RESET, which begins to cause him great pain.
  5. At the end of the 10th timeline, X!Chara and X!Frisk return their friends' memories to kill X!Gaster. As a result, his AU is erased to the void, and he himself escapes to the multiverse with a fragment of DETERMINATION. Underverse Period: At this point, X! Gaster acts on a larger scale: Observes the "Game", occasionally intervening (for example, in Underverse 0.3, Part 2, when his plan is threatened). At the end of 0.4, he gains physical form and the ability to OVERWRITE - he starts the final stage of the "Game". His body is disfigured (including missing legs - he levitates), but this does not stop him in his desire to create a perfect universe. He comes to the original universe to Frisk with a proposal to change everything together. Not having received consent, he begins to forcibly rewrite reality.

Worldview.

X! Gaster does not consider himself a villain. He is convinced that he is doing a good deed - there should be one perfect universe. Unlike Error (who only wants to keep the original), X!Gaster strives to create his own ideal without worrying about rebuilding destroyed worlds.

Appearance.

X!Gaster's appearance has changed depending on his stage of development and events in the XTale and Underverse plots. In XTale X!, Gaster initially appears as a skeleton with features reminiscent of the classic W.D. Gaster, but with some twists. His clothes (coat and shirt) have X-shaped elements, and his belt has an X-fastening belt. His eyes are initially white, but can later change color depending on his condition: for example, when sharing his soul with X!Chara, he has a red left eye and a purple right eye. In Underverse: In Underworld, Gaster's appearance undergoes significant changes, especially after repeatedly using the RESET button, which disfigures his body due to the poor compatibility of RESOLVE and monster bodies. By the end of Timeline X, it begins to melt due to an excess of RESOLVE in the body. In this half-molten state, he appears in the first season of Underverse. After the return of the original SOUL, the melting process stops, but the body still undergoes changes. In a ruined form, X!Gaster: a sharp grin, narrow eyes, claw-like hands, glitches (distortions) in the leg area, which he does not have. Due to the lack of legs of X!, Gaster levitates above the ground, which visually increases his height. Additional Details:In the presence of strangers, X! Gaster and his assistant communicate in the Windings font. In Underverse X!, Gaster wears a purple cape with white elements in the form of an X. The character's appearance reflects his inner state and evolution from an idealist to an obsessive creator.

Personality.

The personality of X! Gaster has undergone a significant evolution - from a creator to an obsessive creator. Stages of personality development:

  1. Early period (before XTale): Altruism. Initially, he was ready to sacrifice his own soul for the happiness of his creations (X!Enchantment and X!Frisk). Crisis and despair. He had no ideas for his own AU, he planned to destroy the soul of the creator. Inspiration. After the intervention, Inca found a goal - to create a perfect universe.
  2. XTale period (gradual transformation): Idealist. He sincerely believed that he could build a perfect world. Disappointment. Faced with the imperfection of the created timelines, I began to "correct" them with the help of OVERWRITING. Obsession. The "OVERWRITE" button became his obsession - he began to perceive the universe as a project that required endless adjustments. Rigidity. He began to ignore the suffering of his creations for the sake of a global goal.
  3. Underverse Period (Final Form): Cold Calculation. He perceives the multiverse as a game with rules, and characters as figures. Fanaticism. I am convinced that his goal (one ideal universe) justifies any means. Isolation. He distanced himself from his former connections, considering his methods to be the only correct ones. Perseverance. Despite physical suffering and deformations, he does not deviate from the plan. Paradoxical curiosity. Intrigued by unexpected twists (such as Frisk's behavior), even though they contradict his idea of control. Key personality traits: Purposefulness. He is ready to make any sacrifices for the sake of creating an ideal universe. Rationality. He justifies his actions as a "higher goal", rejecting emotions as an unreliable guide. Control. Hates chaos and unpredictability; seeks to subordinate everything to his will. Tragedy. He does not consider himself a villain - he sincerely believes that he acts for the good. Narcissism. He believes that only he is able to create a perfect world; He calls the rest of the universes "garbage". Loneliness. He prefers to act alone, relying only on assistants to collect data.

A mini addition to the Personality.

Dependency on Overwriting. His obsession with the idea of perfection grew into a pathological need to constantly "fix" reality.

Communication style.

  1. General features: Formality. He speaks measuredly, weighing each word. Detachment. He uses impersonal formulations: "this timeline needs correction" instead of "I will destroy this world". Logic instead of emotions. He appeals to rational arguments, ignoring moral aspects. Charisma (selective). He knows how to persuade when it is necessary to recruit allies.
  2. Specific techniques: Sentences instead of orders. He disguises threats as cooperation: "Let's change this world together" (but if he refuses, he turns to coercion). References to foresight. He emphasizes his superiority, hinting at knowledge of the future: "Do you think this is an accident? I saw that moment." Using Windings. The secret messages in this font create a barrier between it and the rest, emphasizing its exclusivity. Sarcasm and irony. Sometimes he adds mocking remarks, especially when interacting with opponents. Being categorical with subordinates. With assistants (for example, X!Alphys) and controlled creatures (X!Muffet, X!Mettaton), he speaks harshly and demandingly. Diplomacy with equals. In communication with Ink or Frisk, he remains polite, but there is a sense of threat behind it.
  3. Emotional palette: Rarely shows feelings. Even in critical situations, he keeps his cool. Outbursts of anger. Exceptions - for example, he breaks down on X!Alphys when his plans are threatened. Suppression of attachment. Tries not to show any remnants of emotional connection to X!Chara and X!Frisk, considering it a weakness.
  4. Evolution of communication style: XTale: more open, sometimes takes care of his creations. Underverse: he becomes tougher, more categorical, almost completely abandons empathy. Speech acquires the features of a manifesto - he proclaims his mission, and does not discuss it.

What is the Windingse font and how does it use it?

Wingdings is a typeface consisting exclusively of decorative symbols and pictograms instead of letters and numbers. Main characteristics:

  1. Type: symbolic (decorative) font.
  2. Composition: contains graphic symbols - arrows, hands, stars, technical devices (computers, phones), natural elements, etc.3 ) Format: vector - symbols can be scaled without loss of quality.
  3. Compatibility: Built into all versions of Windows from Windows 3.1 onwards, available in Microsoft Office applications. Wingdings in the context of X!Gaster: In the fan-made universes of Undertail (e.g. XTale, Underverse), the font "Windings" is used as a method of secret communication. X!Gaster uses it to: transmit encrypted messages to assistants (for example, X!Alphys), disguise plans from outsiders, emphasize his exclusivity and connection with the "code" of the multiverse.

Capabilities.

  1. OVERWRITE: Allows you to completely change the timeline in your universe. Erases the memories of the inhabitants of the universe. Can turn the universe into an empty wasteland. Grants full control over his own creatures (including X!Chara and X!Frisk) - removes their control over their own body. In Underverse 0.4, he regained his full ability after taking it from X!Chara and restoring the integrity of the SOUL.
  2. RESET: Returns to a previous event in his universe. Gained this ability after exchanging half of his soul for half of X!Chara's soul (gained DETERMINATION). Each RESET causes excruciating pain and physical deformities due to the incompatibility of RESOLVE with the Monster's body.
  3. Foresight: Able to see fragments of future events in a fraction of a second. Visions that are incomplete and fragmentary can lead to unexpected consequences and disruption of plans. It helps to predict the actions of opponents and adjust your strategies.
  4. Control of Creations: Can take control of his creatures (X!Muffet, X!Mettaton, etc.) and speak through their mouths. Controlled characters remain conscious and can even ask for help. It is used to manipulate and suppress uprisings.
  5. Levitation: Moves while hovering above the ground - this became necessary after losing his legs in the 10th Timeline due to the X!Frisk Rebellion. Levitation visually increases its height.
  6. Teleportation: Able to instantly travel anywhere in the multiverse. Can teleport other characters (e.g. moved X!Alphys with a snap of his fingers to Underverse 0.4).
  7. Resurrect: Can resurrect the dead with REWRITING. Example: brought the characters of XTale, including Cross, back to life in Underverse 0.4.
  8. SOUL Manipulation: Able to exchange parts of the SOUL (e.g., sharing the SOUL with X!Chara). In Underverse 0.4, he took X!Chara's ability to REWRITE and regained the other half of the SOUL, gaining full DETERMINATION.

Supplement to Abilities.

  1. Physical Strength: Possesses tremendous physical strength. Able to lift two buses or carry X!Asgore with both hands (XTale).
  2. Hand Attacks: His hands can create spikes that he uses as weapons. Spikes are also used to manipulate SOULs (e.g. when exchanging soul parts with X!Chara).
  3. Windings Communication: Uses the Windings font for secret messages, especially when communicating with assistants (e.g. X!Alphys). The inscriptions on Windings periodically appear in the series as its "signature".
  4. Erasure Resistance: Due to its connection to DETERMINATION and the status of the creator of its own AU, it has an increased resistance to erasure from reality. Can persist even after the destruction of its universe (as at the end of XTale).

Weaknesses.

  1. Can't overwrite alien universes: This is a key limitation that caused him to try to cooperate with Frisk - to access and alter the original universe. Without the help of a RESOLVE carrier from another universe, his options are limited.
  2. Body damage from DETERMINATION: RESOLVE is not compatible with the monster's body - each RESET causes excruciating pain. Over time, the body begins to "melt", losing its former shape (especially noticeable in Underverse). Physical deformities limit its capabilities and require constant concentration on keeping fit.
  3. Addiction to Overwriting: His obsession with creating a perfect universe made him addicted to the use of Overwriting. This addiction pushes him to more and more radical actions and makes him ignore the consequences.
  4. Limited foresight: Sees only fragments of the future, not the full picture. Because of this, his plans sometimes fail or lead to unexpected results (e.g., the rebellion of X!Frisk and X!Enchantment).
  5. Loss of Legs: Lost his legs as a result of the actions of X!Frisk during the rebellion against him (10th Timeline). While levitation compensates for this loss, the absence of legs is a vulnerability in close combat.
  6. Emotional connection to creations: Despite being cruel, he sometimes shows affection for his creatures (such as X!Chara and X!Frisk at the beginning of the story). This connection can be used against him (for example, Ink tried to appeal to his previous feelings).
  7. Vulnerability to SOUL Splitting: When his soul was split (half was given to X!Chara), his powers were weakened. Restoring a full soul required complex manipulations and temporary loss of control.
  8. Dependency on assistants: Relies on assistants (e.g. X!Alphys) to collect data and perform some tasks. Losing key allies could slow down or disrupt his plans.
  9. Need for a "stable" basis: His abilities are most pronounced in his own universe (XTale).

Complement to Weaknesses.

Outside of it, his power is somewhat limited, and he is forced to look for ways to expand his influence (for example, through cooperation with Frisk). 10) Psychological obsession: His fanatical belief in the ideal makes him inflexible - he is not ready to consider alternative paths. This allows opponents to anticipate his actions and find gaps in his plans.

What he/she likes.

  1. Perfect Universe: The main passion is to create one perfect universe by combining the best of other worlds. He perceives it as a mission: he believes that this will bring the good of all.
  2. Control and order: Likes things to go according to his plan. He hates chaos and unpredictability - he seeks to subordinate everything to his will. He controls his creations (X!Muffet, X!Mettaton, etc.), preserving their consciousness.
  3. Logic and rationality: Justifies his actions with a "higher goal", rejecting emotions as an unreliable guide. He believes that the end justifies the means.
  4. Foresight: He likes to be aware that he sees fragments of the future - this gives him a sense of superiority and control. Uses visions to adjust strategies.
  5. His creations (in theory): Originally created X!Chara and X!Frisk with love, he was ready to sacrifice his soul for their happiness. He is partly attached to them later, although he suppresses these feelings as a weakness.
  6. Font "Windings": Uses it for secret messages (especially with X!Alphys). He enjoys creating barriers between himself and others, emphasizing his exclusivity.
  7. Experiments with Timelines: In XTale, he created 10 Timelines (the "X" symbol refers to his name). He perceives Timelines as projects: he likes to design, correct and rewrite reality.
  8. Curious deviations: Despite his obsession with the ideal, he is intrigued by unexpected twists. Example: he was interested in Frisk's behavior, which "made his work easier".
  9. Self-Strength: Appreciates the opportunities that give him REWRITING and DETERMINATION. Proud of the status of the creator and connection with the SOUL of the creator.
  10. Silence and solitude: Often acts alone, relying on assistants only to collect data. It is more comfortable for him to plan without interference.
  11. Symbolism "X": Sees deep meaning in coincidences: 10 timelines (Roman "X"), the name X!Gaster. He perceives the "X" as a sign of his mission.

A mini addition to what he loves.

  1. Stability of the rules of the "Game" In Underverse perceives the multiverse as a game with phases and rules. He likes clear mechanisms (for example, the "RESET" button).

What he hates.

  1. Imperfection: Hates anything that doesn't fit into his ideal: broken timelines, unpredictable characters, random events. He is ready to destroy entire universes in order to eliminate "defects".
  2. Chaos and unpredictability: Fears that the world will get out of control and his plans will collapse due to unaccounted factors. He is especially angry when his creations (X!Frisk, X!Chara) act against his intentions.
  3. Own failures: Every failure to create a perfect universe hurts his pride and increases his obsession. He does not know how to admit mistakes - instead, he toughens his methods.
  4. Ability Limitations: Cannot rewrite other people's universes without help (because of this, he tried to cooperate with Frisk). Fragmentary foresight - sees only fragments of the future, which sometimes leads to failures. Physical pain and deformities from the use of DETERMINATION (each RESET disfigures the body).
  5. Creature Rebellions: Hates when his creations challenge his power. Example: the rebellion of X!Frisk and X!Enchantment in the 10th timeline, which caused his AU to be erased to nothing.
  6. Emotions that interfere with logic: Suppresses compassion, attachment, and doubt, considering them weaknesses. Rejects Inca or Frisk's attempts to show understanding - this reminds him of the former, "weak" version of himself.
  7. Dependence on others: He does not like to realize that he needs allies to carry out his plans (Frisk, X!Alphys) or that he was once dependent on Inca. He tries to minimize this dependence, but has to rely on assistants.
  8. Reminders of the Past: Rejects the original Gaster's advice and early ideals because they contradict his current obsession. Erases the memories of the inhabitants of the universe to get rid of "uncomfortable" connections.
  9. Inaction: Hates pauses in working on the universe - for him, stopping is tantamount to defeat. Even in Underverse, despite the disfigured body, it continues to act.

An addition to what he hates.

  1. Sympathy from others: Rejects attempts to help or understand his motives. He considers this to be pity, which humiliates his status as a "creator".
  2. Loss of control over the situation: Panics when events get out of his influence. In such cases, he acts abruptly and cruelly to restore order.
  3. Destruction of his designs: Becomes enraged when someone destroys or distorts his Timelines. Example: his reaction to the rebellion of X!Frisk and X!Enchantment, which returned memories to other characters in order to kill him.

Biographical data.

Before XTale: Prior to the events of XTale and Underverse X!, Gaster was going to destroy the SOUL of the creator, as he had no ideas for his alternate universe (AU). During this period, he met Ink Sans, who broke the agreement with Error and intervened to stop the AU's self-destruct. Ink showed X! Gaster the multiverse, which inspired him to create his own universe. Around this time, he was given the name X!Gaster. XTale: In XTale X!, Gaster first tried to create a perfect universe according to his vision. Later, he began to bring events to those moments that he foresaw in the future. Gradually, he turned his back on the past, striving for a "bright future" that he saw would lead to the failure that the original Gaster had warned about. X! Gaster created 10 timelines, each of which was saved on sheets with Roman numerals. In the process, he used the power of his soul to create versions of characters from other universes (Papyrus, Sans, Toriel, Asgore, Alphys, Undyne, etc.). In the course of his experiments, X! Gaster invented a "Overwrite" button that allowed him to modify or delete creations entirely. He used it repeatedly, canceling the job and returning everything to its original state, which upset his "children" - X!Charu and X!Frisk. After obtaining half of the soul of X!Enchantment X!, Gaster gained the ability "Reset", but each use of it caused him excruciating pain and physical deformities due to the incompatibility of Resolve with the monster's body. At the end of the 10th X!Chara and X!Frisk timeline returned their memories to all of their friends in order to kill X!Gaster. As a result, the AU was erased to nothing, and X!Gaster escaped to the multiverse with a fragment of DETERMINATION.

Supplement to biographical data.

Underverse: In Underverse, X!Gaster observed the "Game," occasionally intervening. At the end of episode 0.4, he regained his physical form and the ability to OVERRIDE, and began the final stage of his "Game." By this point, his body was disfigured and his legs were completely missing, but this did not stop him from creating the perfect universe. X!Gaster approached Frisk in the original universe with a proposal to change everything together, but when Frisk refused, he began altering reality by force. Additional information: Date of birth: November 11. Ideology: "Evolution requires sacrifice." Relationship with Ink: X!Gaster and Ink were friends, but later X!Gaster began to manipulate Ink. Abilities: In addition to OVERWRITE and RESET, X!Gaster could foresee the future, resurrect characters, manipulate souls, and take control of his creations. Appearance: In Underverse, he had no legs, causing him to levitate above the ground, which visually increased his height. X!Gaster didn't consider himself a villain. Like Error, he believed he was doing a good deed, striving to create one "perfect" universe. Unlike Error, who wanted to preserve only the original universe, X!Gaster strove to create a single, ideal world that would combine the best of all the universes. Height: In XTale: 172 cm. This is the base figure recorded for the character during the period of creating and managing his own universe. In Underverse: visually taller than 172 cm due to levitation. After losing his legs, X!Gaster moves by hovering above the ground, which adds to his perceived "height." His body doesn't physically grow, but his overall height from the floor to the top of his head increases. Estimated age: 38 years. Species: Skeleton monster.

View (detailed appearance).

The character's appearance changes depending on the period of history - from a relatively "classic" skeleton in XTale to a mutilated, distorted form in Underverse. In XTale (early period) X!Gaster looks like a skeleton monster, similar to other skeletons from Undertale (such as Sans and Papyrus), but with individual features: Height: 172 cm. Eye color: initially white; later, after exchanging souls with X!Chara, the left eye becomes red and the right one becomes purple. Clothing: A long coat with elements in the form of an "X" symbol (a reference to his name and the 10th Timelines - the Roman "X"), a shirt and pants in the same color, a belt with a cross-shaped (X-shaped) buckle. Overall impression: a strict, collected, "scientific" appearance. Emphasizes the role of creator and researcher. Behavior: stands confidently, but without aggression; gestures are restrained, movements are calculated. In the Underverse (late period, after injuries and mutations): After repeatedly using the RESET button, X!Gaster's body becomes deformed. His appearance becomes distorted and frightening: No legs: Completely lost as a result of the events of Timeline 10 (the X!Frisk rebellion). Moves solely by levitation, which visually increases his height. Levitation: floats above the ground, giving it the appearance of some abstract, almost immaterial force. Face: sharp, angular features, a narrow grin, almost a snarl, eyes narrowed, purple-tinted (in corrupted form), barely noticeable "glitches" (distortions reminiscent of digital glitches) around the eyes and on the face. Hands: fingers elongated, turning into claw-like appendages, capable of creating spikes on his hands for attacks or soul manipulation, sometimes hands separate from the body and act autonomously. Body: the contours are blurred, in places they “float”, creating the effect of melting, fragments of bones and a dark substance are visible (a symbol of the influence of DETERMINATION), on the chest there is a cross-shaped belt, preserved from the XTale period. Clothing: purple cloak with white X-elements, remnants of the previous suit under the cloak - tattered, torn in places.

View (detailed appearance) - addition.

Aura: The symbols of the Windings font sometimes flicker around him, as a visual manifestation of his ability to communicate secretly. Sounds: When driving, you can hear a low noise, similar to static or signal failure. Details characteristic of both periods

  1. Symbolism of "X": name X!Gaster, 10 timelines (Roman "X"), X-shaped elements on clothing, cross-shaped belt.
  2. Font "Vindings": uses it to communicate with assistants (for example, with X!Alphys), the inscriptions "Windings" periodically appear next to it as a "signature".
  3. Traces of DETERMINATION: dark veins on the bones, pulsation of energy around the arms and chest, distortions of space near the body (especially in the Underverse). Evolution of appearance as a reflection of the plot: Changes in X!Gaster's appearance are directly related to his internal state: XTale: a relatively "normal" skeleton - reflects his role as a creator and explorer who still believes in the possibility of an ideal world. Underverse: A mutilated, distorted body symbolizes obsession, pain, and the abandonment of humanity for the sake of a goal. Levitation and the absence of legs emphasize his detachment from reality: he is no longer part of the world, but an external force attempting to rewrite it.
