Persona Attributes

Background.

  1. Beginning of the Journey: Before the events of the game, Spamton was an unsuccessful spam advertiser from the world of Darkness (Cyber World). He belonged to the Addison race. Despite constant failures, he persistently dreamed of becoming a "big shot."
  2. Takeoff: At some point, Spamton contacted a mysterious assistant by phone. This assistant dramatically increased his sales and helped him achieve success: Spamton began to communicate with this person constantly by phone. The envious Addisons stopped communicating with him. He received a luxurious room in the Queen's Mansion. He began bragging about major deals: TV commercials, cars, etc. He became a business partner of the TV show host Tenna.
  3. The Fall: Suddenly, the mysterious assistant disappeared. The connection was lost—all that remained was a "garbage noise" reminiscent of V.D. Gaster's recordings. The consequences were catastrophic: Sales plummeted. His former partners turned their backs on him. He was evicted from the Queen's Mansion. Eventually, Spamton ended up in a dumpster on the outskirts of Cyber City.
  4. Attempts to regain success: Even in poverty, Spamton didn't give up on his quest to become a "big shot": He tried to emulate Swatch, copying his monochrome suit and colored glasses to gain access to the NEO machine. He may have tried to hire Sweet Cap'n Cakes to infiltrate the Queen's Mansion, but they refused. He opened a shop in the Garbage Zone, where he sells questionable goods for "kromers" (the local currency). The prices in the shop change every second.
  5. Spamton NEO: If Chris helps him get into the Queen's Mansion basement (via LoadedDisk or by freezing Beardley), Spamton transforms into Spamton NEO: He looks like a scruffy, pink-and-yellow version of Mettaton NEO, complete with wings and a laser cannon. He hangs in the air on strings, reminiscent of a puppet, a metaphor for his dependence on outside influence. He becomes a difficult boss: a bonus boss in the normal route (with the Shadow Crystal), and a final boss in the Snowgrave route.

Addition to the backstory.

After his defeat, he returns to his normal form, becomes calmer and says: “I couldn’t become anything more than a puppet.” Key details and theories:

  1. "Trash Noise." The sound left behind after the assistant's disappearance alludes to V.D. Gaster's recordings, sparking fan theories about his involvement.
  2. Humanization. In rare moments of clarity, Spamton displays a melancholy and loneliness that contrasts with his manic advertising.
  3. LGBTQ+. According to the Spamton Sweepstakes, the character is pansexual: willing to date anyone "as long as they have money."
  4. Aesthetics. Spamton's image evokes 90s advertising, old internet spam, and clickable headlines. Its text in square brackets mimics outdated internet slang.

Appearance in basic form.

A small puppet character with features reminiscent of classic marionettes and ventriloquist dummies. His design incorporates elements typical of puppet characters, such as a fixed nose reminiscent of Pinocchio's.

  1. Height and Build: Spamton is a short character. His body is articulated like a doll's, and his skin resembles soft, rubbery plastic.
  2. Skin: Due to birth defects, Spamton was born with white skin without the unique coloring that Addisons (his race) usually have.
  3. Hair: Black, slicked back, reminiscent of a pompadour.
  4. Face: pointed nose, constantly smiling face, small gray pinpoint eyes. Bright red cheeks.
  5. Glasses: Round glasses with pink and yellow lenses that sometimes switch places when the character turns.
  6. Clothes: slightly oversized black tuxedo with a long tailcoat, white trousers.

Appearance in the form of Spamton NEO.

After transforming into Spamton NEO, the character's appearance changes dramatically. He takes on the form of the machine he inhabits.

  1. Body: Reminiscent of a disheveled Mettaton NEO, but with a bright pink and yellow color scheme. A laser cannon is mounted on his arm.
  2. Suspension: many green threads hold it in the air.
  3. Wings: Bat wings appear - one wing is colored green, purple, and violet, the other is colored yellow, pink, and magenta.
  4. Fingers: The thumbs are colored turquoise green and gray.
  5. Glasses: The lens colors are reversed compared to the base shape.
  6. Head: In NEO form, Spamton's head is permanently enlarged compared to his normal state. Design Features: Spamton's design is partially inspired by popular images of puppets, including features of classic ventriloquist dummies. His appearance also references the character "Billy the Puppet" from the Saw franchise—both puppets are made of wood, have a large white head, black hair, and red polka-dot cheeks. Spamton bears a noticeable resemblance to Swatch, which he himself acknowledges during a live Q&A as part of the "Spamton Sweepstakes." This resemblance is evident in his hairstyle, glasses, suit, and overall appearance.

Personality.

Spamton is a complex and contradictory character with pronounced emotional instability. His personality is comprised of several key traits:

  1. Delusions of grandeur and obsession with success. Spamton's greatest dream is to become a "big shot." He constantly reminisces about his past success and desperately tries to recapture it.
  2. Despair and Vulnerability. Behind the bravado lies a deeply unhappy character. After a fall, he found himself in a dumpster and desperately needs recognition. In rare moments of clarity, he admits, "I couldn't become anything more than a puppet."
  3. Chaotic Emotionality. Spamton's mood changes instantly: from manic enthusiasm to rage, from self-confidence to despair, from obsessive friendliness to threats.
  4. Self-interest and manipulative nature. He's willing to do anything for money (kromer) and power. He tries to deceive Chris by offering dubious deals.
  5. A paradoxical capacity for empathy. Despite his egoism, in some situations Spamton displays unexpected caring. For example, he defends a certain Mike and refuses to give up information about him.
  6. Sadism in the form of NEO. In the Spamton version, NEO becomes downright cruel, taunting Chris and threatening to kill him, while simultaneously believing he's helping him become "free."
  7. Addiction and Trauma. Spamton is a victim of manipulation by a mysterious assistant who first raised him to the top and then abandoned him. This left him with deep psychological trauma.

Communication style.

Spamton's speech is the character's calling card. Its characteristics include:

  1. Imitation of spam emails: words in square brackets: [[Specil Deal]], [[Genorisity]], intentional typos: genorisity (instead of generosity), delisis (instead of delicious), guaranttee (instead of guarantee), hyperbolic advertising phrases: “A [[Specil Deal]] FOR LONELY [[Hearts]] LIKE YOU!!”
  2. Sharp changes in style: in its normal state - chaotic, fragmentary, full of advertising clichés, on the Strange Route - more coherent and businesslike, after the defeat in the form of NEO - calm, almost philosophical.
  3. Repeating phrases and mantras: “Don't you wanna be a BIG SHOT?”, “YUM YUM, DELICIS KROMER”, “MAKE A DEAL!”.
  4. Technical glitches and "noise": sudden breaks in sentences, meaningless insertions: "[BreaKing] and [CracKing]", imitation of autocorrect errors or connection failures.
  5. Projection onto Chris. Spamton often speaks as if describing himself, but he directs it at Chris: "Life in a dumpster isn't the end, it's the beginning of a new chapter!"
  6. Contrast in the form of NEO: before the fight - pompous, boastful, uses loud advertising slogans, during the fight - aggressive, sarcastic, threatening, after defeat - sober, humble, even grateful.
  7. Humor and absurdity. Many lines are constructed as parodies of: 90s spam advertising, clickbait headlines, and pushy offers of "unique deals."
  8. References to technology. The speech is full of terms related to computers and the Internet: [Cathode Screens], [Hyperlink Blocked], [DVDs of ANY movie at Half-price!]

Base form abilities.

  1. Trading and manipulation. Spamton is a skilled salesman and manipulator. He knows how to persuade, offers dubious deals, and changes product prices in real time.
  2. Vacuum Mouth. Capable of sucking up objects and projectiles (including dollar-shaped projectiles) into his giant mouth.
  3. Pipis. Controls small blue shellfish that can transform into projectiles shaped like Spamton himself. If destroyed before they explode, they do no damage.
  4. Access to secret areas. Using a LoadedDisk or a frozen Birdley, you can access the basement of the Queen's Mansion.
  5. Adaptability. Quickly changes tactics in combat, reacts to player actions, and can enhance attacks when provoked (for example, by constantly using charged attacks).

Spamton NEO form abilities.

After transforming into Spamton NEO, his powers increase dramatically:

  1. Increased durability and regeneration. In Bluelight mode, he significantly increases his defense while simultaneously reducing the power of his own attacks and can heal himself.
  2. Absorption. Capable of absorbing dollar signs and even enemies, then releasing powerful gusts of wind in the shape of his face ("Big Shot").
  3. Flight. Thanks to its wings, it can move freely around the battle arena.
  4. Energy attacks. Uses laser blasts and powerful energy waves.
  5. Cloning. In the later stages of combat, creates illusory duplicates to confuse the enemy.
  6. Space Control. During the battle on the Strange Route, he controls the Queen's Mansion and uses the surroundings to his advantage.
  7. Reality Distortion. At the "Demon+" level, he is capable of influencing the structure of the Dark World, attempting to seize control over it.

Weaknesses of the basic form.

  1. Low defense. Without reinforcement, vulnerable to direct attacks.
  2. Environment dependency. To activate some abilities (for example, accessing the basement), he requires external resources or the Player's assistance.
  3. Emotional instability. Sharp mood swings can interfere with tactics.
  4. Limited arsenal. Without transformation, his attacks are predictable and not very powerful.

Spamton NEO Form Weaknesses.

  1. Limiter Threads. His body is suspended by green threads. Severing all the threads as a team deals significant damage and speeds up victory (with the Mercy strategy, this provides 7% progress per turn when the entire group acts together, versus 6% when acting individually).
  2. Vulnerability in Bluelight mode. Although defense increases, attack power is reduced, which can be used to your tactical advantage.
  3. Energy dependence. Maintaining the NEO's form requires constant recharge (dollar signs, absorbing objects). Without it, its power declines.
  4. Difficulty managing clones. Creating clones requires resources and attention, and the real Spamton remains vulnerable during this attack.
  5. Psychological vulnerability. After defeat, he loses his fighting spirit and becomes open to dialogue. At this point, he can be "spare," ending the fight without violence.
  6. Predictability of phases. Each combat phase has a clear sequence of attacks. By memorizing these patterns, the Player can dodge and counterattack with minimal losses.
  7. Dependence on external forces. His transformation and power are directly linked to the mysterious assistant and the Queen's Mansion's technology. Without them, he reverts to his original form.

Interesting facts.

  1. Name anagram. The name "Spamton" is an anagram of the word "postman," emphasizing the connection with mail and spam.
  2. Color palette. Spamton's colors match the standard Microsoft Paint palette, emphasizing its "digital" status and connection to primitive graphics.
  3. Connection to Gaster. The "garbage noise" left behind by the mysterious assistant's disappearance alludes to the recordings of V.D. Gaster from Undertale. This has led to theories about his involvement in Spamton's fate.
  4. Pop Culture References: Spamton's design is inspired by classic ventriloquist dummies, Pinocchio (pointy nose), and the "Billy the Dummy" from the Saw franchise (white head, black hair, red cheeks).
  5. Relationship with Mettaton. Both characters have the suffix "-ton" in their names. Spamton NEO's form resembles Mettaton NEO, but with a brighter, more garish color scheme.
  6. Connection to Jevil. Spamton views Jevil as a rival and possibly fears him. In dialogue, he mentions a certain "clown," which may be a reference to Jevil.
  7. Partnership with Tenna. In the past, Spamton collaborated with TV show host Tenna, who gave him "life advice" and planned to make him a TV star.
  8. Spamton Sweepstakes. During the in-game Spamton Sweepstakes event, it was revealed that the character is pansexual: willing to date anyone "as long as they have money."

What he/she likes.

  1. Money and power ("cromer" and "big shot" status). Spamton's greatest passion is to become a "big shot." He is obsessed with money (kromer) and is willing to do anything to achieve success.
  2. Manipulation and deals. He enjoys making deals, even if they're unfavorable for the other party. His store in the Garbage Zone reflects this passion: prices change every second, and the "SELL" option is replaced with "BUYMORE!!."
  3. Attention and recognition. Spamton craves to be noticed and appreciated. He boasts about his past successes and tries to impress others.
  4. Pipis. He genuinely cares for his little blue shellfish. In battle, he worries about them and refers to them as "boys" rather than "eggs" (he finds it offensive when they're called that).
  5. Mike. The only person Spamton truly feels affection for, he's protective of Mike and refuses to reveal information about him, even under pressure.
  6. Technology and the digital world. He enjoys gadgets, computers, and everything related to the cyber world. He uses LoadedDisk and EmptyDisk for his purposes.

  8. Tenna. In the past, he valued his partnership with TV show host Tenna, who gave him "life advice" and planned to make him a TV star.

What he hates.

  1. His current situation. He despises the fact that he ended up in a dumpster after falling. This fills him with despair and anger.
  2. Matchmaker. They were once friends, but now Spamton hates Matchmaker. Reason: Match refused to help him get into the basement of the Queen's Mansion, Spamton tried to copy Match (suit, glasses), but it did not work, he believes that Match betrayed him and never truly appreciated him.
  3. Jevil. Spamton fears and hates Jevil. The reasons are: their worldviews clash (Jevil is a hedonist, Spamton is a careerist), Spamton has never won against Jevil in their "games," and Jevil represents chaos, which frightens Spamton, who dreams of control and success.
  4. The Addisons (his race). He believes they turned their backs on him when he achieved success and never truly cared about him.
  5. The Queen. He sees her as a symbol of the system that used and discarded him. Even when she helped him, he felt like she didn't take him seriously.
  6. Failure and Dependence. He hates that his success depended on a mysterious assistant who then disappeared. The realization of his role as a puppet hurts him.
  7. Chris (as NEO). On the Strange Route, he attempts to kill Chris, Susie, and Ralsei to obtain Chris's SOUL. He projects his own fears and insecurities onto Chris, claiming that "no one will come to save you."
  8. Ignoring. His greatest fear is being forgotten. When he's ignored, he becomes more aggressive and clingy, trying to attract attention at any cost.
  9. Limitations. He hates any restrictions that prevent him from achieving his goals. The threads holding him in the NEO form are a physical metaphor for these limitations.
