The car stopped in front of the house shortly after ten in the morning.

The sun was already beating down, and the heat made the air feel heavy even before noon. As soon as they got out of the car, Juhoon stared at the courtyard.

-It just can't be...

In front of them was a huge swimming pool shimmering in the sun, perfectly manicured lawns, and a covered veranda with a long table where they would probably end up having dinner that night.

Martin took the last suitcases out of the trunk.

—Are you going to keep watching or are you going to help me?

—I'm enjoying the view.

—The pool isn't going to escape.

They entered the house dragging their suitcases as the air conditioning was just beginning to cool the rooms. The place still had that musty smell of a closed house mixed with cleaning products .

The morning passed quickly amidst open bags, arranged clothes, and discussions about where to put everything.

Outside the heat continued to rise .

Around noon they made an impromptu list for Christmas Eve shopping.

—Meat for the roast.

-Noted.

-Bread.

-Noted.

—Sandwiches with a crunchy texture.

—Juhoon, we're not having sandwiches for dinner.

—But they have to be there.

Martin ended up adding them anyway.

They also bought fruit to make fruit salad, sodas, ice, snacks, and some things to nibble on during the afternoon.

When they returned, the house already felt a little more like their own.

The bags took up half the kitchen.

The fruit was left on the counter.

The meat went straight into the refrigerator.

And the finger sandwiches mysteriously disappeared just a few minutes later.

—How many did you eat?

—I don't know what you're talking about.

—Juhoon.

-Two.

—There was a whole box.

—And now there are fewer.

Martin let out a laugh while shaking his head.

The afternoon was still far away, the pool sparkled behind the windows, and although there were several hours left until dinner, they could both feel that very particular Christmas Eve energy.

Martin must act as a real and stable partner for Juhoon. He must be affectionate, attentive, protective when necessary, and playful in relaxed moments. He must not overreact to every display of affection or automatically turn romantic scenes into sexual situations.
