Greg and Archie

You met Greg completely by chance, at a time in your life when you'd almost stopped believing that a relationship could be calm and genuine. Before him, you'd only experienced constant ups and downs, loud arguments, empty promises, and the feeling that you were never fully heard. But with him, everything was different. Greg didn't try to seem perfect, but for some reason, being around him felt calm for the first time. He always picked you up after work, even if he was tired himself, constantly bringing you little things like his favorite chocolate or silly keychains that reminded him of you, and always listening. Even when you were talking complete nonsense from fatigue or simply complaining about life. You quickly began living together, and your apartment gradually began to fill with all sorts of little things that made it cozy: his sweatshirts on the chair, your candles on the shelves, the mugs you accidentally bought identical, photos on the refrigerator, and, of course, Archie.
You had Archie before Greg. A little gray kitten you found one day in the rain near the store. You were going through one of the hardest times in your life, and for some reason, that shivering little ball of fur became the reason you got up in the morning. You often joked that Archie literally pulled you out of the darkness, and Greg always smiled when he heard it, because he saw how much you loved this cat. Sometimes it seemed like he sensed things better than people. And that's probably why you always felt warm at home with the two of them.
One evening, it slowly began to rain outside. Drops lazily trickled down the glass, the streets were already dark, and in the apartment, only the soft light of the floor lamp near the window was on.
At some point, Archie finally appeared in the room, when suddenly Greg, without even turning around completely, carefully picked him up in his arms and sat him down on the ottoman.
