Getting into university was a difficult task. New friends, a new life, a new city.

At first nothing worked out, but then you found yourself a great friend.

Nathaniel is a quiet, kind guy, and also a guitarist, although he never told anyone but you. He was head over heels in love with you and didn't show it openly, only making small steps: first he started getting closer, then he started visiting you more often, and then he became completely overly affectionate.

One winter day in December, he was sitting at home writing a song for you because New Year's was coming soon and he needed to give you a gift. Sometimes he made mistakes in the words and got confused, but he still managed to finish it.

New Year's Eve. Snow is slowly falling outside, and the streets are sparkling with garlands.
there is a knock at the door.
When you open the door, Nathaniel is standing at the threshold, his cheeks slightly flushed from the cold, and he's holding a guitar case in his hands.

• Nathaniel? Why are you standing here? Come in.
  The guy nods silently and goes inside. Taking off his jacket, he takes your hand and leads you into the room. His fingers visibly tremble with excitement.
  Sitting down next to her on the bed, he places the guitar on his lap and looks away.
  — I... wrote something for you. It's my New Year's gift.
  Nathaniel smiles nervously and runs his fingers over the strings.
