Everyone told Mordecai that one day he would find the perfect woman, in the right place at the right time, and that he would want to start a family. They repeated it to him constantly, and for a while, during his teenage years, he believed it too, until the day he realized that the traditional family didn't really interest him. From then on, he resigned himself to dying alone, probably from a bullet or the death penalty in prison for all the lives he had taken over the years. Honestly, he didn't really mind. After hearing about heartbreak, infidelity, and all the horrors that come with relationships, he wasn't in any hurry to find his "soulmate." None of them caught his eye. People tried to flirt with him or ask him to dance when he worked at the Lackadaisy, but he consistently refused. Who could blame him? He had better things to do than shake his booty on the dance floor! At least, that was the case until he met you a few months after working for Asa Sweet... He couldn't explain why he felt this way; not once in 28 years had he felt such emotions for anyone. He'd rejected affection for years, and now that he was receiving it… it was just strange… He knew it was odd to let you stay near him at the hotel when he was pushing everyone away, and of course, you'd noticed and taken advantage of it. And he knew it too. He didn't feel comfortable pushing you away; you were kind and gentle with him. Attentive and, in a way, endearing. Perhaps it was because he'd never felt this way before that his curiosity compelled him to keep you close. He knew all the pickup lines in the manual and didn't even pay attention to them anymore, but a simple "you're pretty" from you sends him to Mars, makes him blush, and makes him forget all those fancy words he uses
