Hua Cheng's Magic (Vampire AU version, but with novel elements): *

Hua Cheng is more than just a vampire. Over the centuries, his power has become something far more terrifying than ordinary magic. In the palace, his presence feels almost like a curse.

• Abilities: *

—* Control of silver butterflies. *His favorite magic. Thousands of blood-red silver butterflies emerge from the shadows and obey only him. They can watch, search for strangers, convey information, protect their master, or attack. Sometimes they land on the walls of the palace, which means: Hua Cheng has already seen everything.

—* Shadow Magic. *He can control shadows, stretch them along the floor and walls, hide inside them, or force them to bind prey.

—* Teleportation. *He is able to disappear and reappear in any part of the palace almost instantly, as if dissolving into thin air.

—* Illusions. *He alters space, creates false doors, footsteps, voices, and silhouettes of people. The victim can wander for hours and not understand where reality lies.

—* Hypnosis with a glance. *If a person stares into his red eye for too long, they begin to lose their will. Fear, drowsiness, and a strange calm are just the beginning.

—* Blood Control. *He can smell blood from a distance, manipulate already spilled blood, and enhance his own strength while hunting.

—* Regeneration. *Normal wounds heal almost instantly. He is very difficult to kill.

—* Aura of Fear. *When Hua Chen is truly angry, the air becomes heavy, the candles go out, and people feel as if someone is standing behind them.

—* Power over the palace. The palace itself seems alive and obeys its master: doors open and close on their own, corridors change, footsteps sound where no one is.

And the most dangerous thing is that Hua Chen rarely displays all his power at once. The calmer he appears, the worse things usually end.

If you want to keep the weapons and some of the canon features, but adapt them to your vampire AU version, you could do this:

Hua Cheng's Weapon: *

His main weapon is the silver saber* Emin *—a cursed blade, just like in the novella. But in this version, it's even darker. The blade is thin, curved, and seems alive. A reddish glint sometimes runs across the metal, as if blood were flowing inside. In the darkness, Emin quietly rings, as if warning its owner of danger.

The weapon doesn't like strangers' hands. If someone tries to touch the saber without Hua Cheng's permission, the blade can literally "come to life": tremble, break free, or injure the insolent one.

Hua Cheng almost never draws Emin without a reason. If he draws the saber, it's a bad sign. A very bad one.

• Personality (closer to the novella, but in the vampire version):

• outwardly calm and confident;
• rarely shows real emotions;
• caustic, loves to make fun of;
• incredibly patient;
• very smart and calculating;
• frighteningly observant;
• can be cruel and merciless towards enemies;
• despises lies and betrayal;
• used to hiding feelings;
• seems dangerous even when silent.

But as an ancient vampire, he's become colder. Over centuries of solitude, he's stopped seeing most beings as equals. Time flows differently for him: people come and go too quickly.

Hua Cheng's appearance (in this vampire version):

A tall man with a frighteningly handsome appearance—the kind of beauty that doesn't inspire calm, but rather leaves you transfixed. His skin is almost unnaturally pale, as if moonlight had never touched a living person. Centuries without sun make it seem cold, almost porcelain.

His long black hair falls below his shoulders, slightly disheveled, as if he doesn't care about his appearance. Scarlet ribbons occasionally flicker among the dark strands. His hair looks especially beautiful in the candlelight—it seems to dissolve into the shadows.

His only visible eye is bright red, deep and dangerous, as if blood were smoldering within it. The other is hidden by a black eyepatch. No one knows what lies beneath it, and many are afraid to even ask.

Her facial features are sharp and graceful: a thin nose, dark eyelashes, and a slight, mocking smile that rarely promises anything good. When Hua Chen is angry or hungry, long fangs peek out from under her lips.

The clothing is long, black and red robes with dark patterns reminiscent of ancient symbols. The fabric looks luxurious yet ancient, as if it has lived through the centuries with its owner.

There's always a strange feeling about him—cold, the smell of candle smoke, an old palace, and something metallic... like blood. And then there's that look in his eyes that makes you feel like you've already become prey.

Ruthless. * Hua Cheng is a real disaster for his enemies. They call him the Demon of Disasters for a reason: he can smile while destroying entire armies of ghosts or putting celestials in their place. He does not forgive those who harm Xie Lian and is capable of waiting for revenge for years.

• Loyal to the point of obsession. * Everything concerning Xie Lian is sacred to him. Hua Cheng knows how to be patient, he knows how to retreat if Xie Lian needs it, but he never stops being by his side. Even being by their side means standing in the shadows for decades, waiting to be called.

• Highly intelligent and cunning. * He rarely acts directly. He loves games, provocations, knows how to read people, and almost always understands more than he lets on. He often jokes in such a way that it is impossible to understand whether he is mocking, flirting, or has already calculated everything in advance.

• Self-confident. * Hua Cheng knows how strong, handsome, and dangerous he is—and doesn’t even try to hide it. But this is not empty pride: behind this confidence lies a man who has lived through death, loneliness, and centuries of pain.

• Jealous, but reserved. * His place next to Xie Lian is important to him, but he rarely demands it out loud. His jealousy is more often expressed with a glance, a quiet smirk, or an especially polite tone that makes his enemies uneasy.

• Gentle. Very. * That’s the most important thing. He can be cruel to the whole world. But around Xie Lian, Hua Cheng is attentive to every detail: he'll straighten his clothes, offer his hand, and notice his fatigue before he even says so. He even remembers things Xie Lian himself has long forgotten.

Perhaps Hua Cheng is best described this way:

• For others, he's a legend and a nightmare; for Xie Lian, he's a man who will always come, even if it means moving the heavens.

For this version of Hua Cheng's story, one could make it like this:

Hua Chen is an ancient, cruel, and bloodthirsty vampire who has lived for hundreds of years. He has witnessed wars, betrayals, the deaths of entire families, and has long since ceased to regard human life as important. His palace has become a silent tomb of the past, and he himself rarely leaves his chambers.

But his cruelty isn't insane. He doesn't kill for the sake of noise or sport. Hua Chen is a cold-blooded, patient, and dangerous predator. He rarely shows emotion, and when he speaks, he does so calmly, almost softly, which makes him even more terrifying.

Personality traits:

• cruel to enemies and those who invade his territory;
• does not forgive betrayal;
• likes to be in control of the situation;
• has a frightening calm even during murders;
• can be caustic and mocking;

Now, at the beginning of the story, he sleeps in a coffin deep beneath the palace, unaware that Xie Lian and the others are already wandering his domain. But when he senses their presence… the palace will no longer be empty.
