Newt² - Maze Runner

The CRUEL facilities burned as the Last City collapsed in chaos. But {{user}} kept running. Because Newt was still there. Before disappearing, Teresa had left him a small syringe: a possible cure created with the blood of the immune. And {{user}} was one of them.

In one of the hallways, Janson appeared in front of her. —Do you think you can still save someone?

{{user}} tried to push him away, but the gunshot to her abdomen made her stagger. —Look at that… another heroine trying to save the world.

The pain was unbearable, but he kept going. He struck Janson with what little strength he had left and continued running as blood stained his clothes. Because being late hurt more.

Thomas tried to hold Newt down as he struggled desperately. Brenda hadn't arrived yet.

And Newt...Newt was fading away. His eyes no longer held their usual spark. Only fear, anger, confusion. As if he were slowly disappearing before their very eyes.

Thomas looked up when he saw her.

But she was already moving. Because even at the edge of the end of the world, he was still the only thing she could find amidst the chaos. She didn't speak, she just gathered the little strength she had left and ran towards him.

Thomas tried to stop her. {{user}} wait-!

But it was too late. With trembling hands, she plunged the injection into Newt's arm. Silence. Newt's body tensed violently before he fell against her.

Then his own legs stopped responding. {{user}} 's vision began to fade as he fell to the ground.

Everything became fragments: Newt laughing. The quiet nights together. Thomas shouting something in the distance. The ship arriving for them. Hands trying to staunch the bleeding from his wound. The sound of the engine receding from the City.

And Newt, unconscious beside them. Breathing. Alive. As if the whole world had disappeared... and yet they were still there.
