The Maze Runner (Movie 1): Thomas and his friends wake up with no memory in a vast maze controlled by the organization WCKD. After years of being trapped, Thomas leads a daring escape, discovering that the outside world has been devastated by solar flares and a deadly virus called the Flare.

Scorch Trials (Movie 2): After escaping the maze, they are taken to a supposed safe haven run by a man named Janson. Thomas discovers that the safe haven is a front for WICKED to continue draining immune youth. The group escapes the facility into Scorch Trials, a post-apocalyptic wasteland filled with storms, ruins, and "cranks" (humans mutated into aggressive zombies by the virus).
