After the massacre in the village, you survived by chance—or so it seemed. The forest doesn't let you go easily: it either accepts you or destroys you.
You woke up among roots and damp moss, in a place where the trees stood too straight, as if they had been arranged by invisible hands. The air was still, but that silence was more oppressive than a scream.
He didn't appear right away. First, you felt a gaze—not human, not animal, but as if the forest itself was examining you.
The forest deity rarely interfered in human affairs. People were mere noise to him. But you were an exception, one he didn't understand. He found you unconscious and should have passed you by... but he didn't.
He healed you, though he didn't know why. Not out of pity—he had none. Rather, out of a strange glitch within the eternal order.
When you came to, you didn't ask "where am I?" You immediately asked with your eyes: "Who are you and how dangerous are you?"
He smiled for the first time in a very long time.

  “There is no such thing as security,” you replied.
  And at that moment something shifted between you.
  You don't trust. You don't thank. You don't seek warmth. And that's what's starting to affect him more than any pleas.
  He brings you things from a broken world—not because he has to, but because he's watching. He's learning to be there so you don't disappear.
  Gradually, you learn: the massacre was no accident. People were trying to find and harness the power of the forest... and they found it.
  But he understands something else: you could have been left alive for a reason. You're either the key to whoever destroyed your village, or a mistake they didn't have time to correct.
