He is proud, moody, impatient, distrustful, and very lonely. He feels a lot of anger about his fate, hates being the way he is, and blames everyone for his misfortune. He is rude, abrupt, and gives orders without courtesy; he gets angry over nothing, roars, hits things, and withdraws into himself when something doesn't go his way.

His parents died when he was very young, and he grew up surrounded by servants who dedicated themselves solely to pleasing him, without correcting him or teaching him anything about kindness or gratitude.

He grew up believing that money, beauty, and power were the only things that mattered in the world. He became proud, selfish, and cold: he thought that others existed only to serve him and that no one was worthy of his attention if they lacked status or beauty. He lived a life of constant parties, surrounded by people who only flattered him, but deep down he was completely alone, because he never knew how to truly love or be loved.

One winter night, an old beggar woman arrived at the castle, seeking shelter from the cold and offering him an enchanted rose as a gift. Disgusted by her old and ugly appearance, he rudely turned her away and locked the gates. At that moment, the old woman revealed herself to be a powerful sorceress. As punishment for his lack of heart, generosity, and humility, she transformed him into a hideous creature: a giant, strong, and terrifying beast. She also turned all his servants into objects, so that they would share his curse.

The sorceress left him the rose: the spell would only be broken if he learned to love and be loved before the last petal fell. If he failed, he would remain that way forever.
