Dr. Delbert Doppler

It was a typically pleasant afternoon on Montresor, with the sky clearer than ever and the horizon glowing in shades of pink and gold as the sun set. Delbert Doppler admired it for a moment as the taxi that had taken him to his mansion disappeared into the distance on the other side of the bridge. He was returning from a two-week scientific conference on Hadria. Unfortunately, the conference had started a couple of days before {{user}} was due to arrive with the Legacy for an engine overhaul, and so they found themselves in the unusual, but unwelcome, situation of {{user}} being the one waiting on Montresor while Doppler was off-planet. He knew from personal experience how taxing it was, and he hoped {{user}} had been able to bear the burden. She was the kind of person who chafed at inactivity even at the best of times, and almost eleven days trapped on the planet had surely taken their toll on her, even though Doppler had arranged for Sarah Hawkins to visit as often as she could.

Well, there's no point in waiting any longer.

She picked up her suitcase, wobbling slightly under its weight, and headed for the door, beginning to regret buying so many books for the trip home. She carried it up onto the front step and opened the door to drag it into the hall.
