From the very beginning of humanity, there existed creatures born from the depths, older than any kingdom. Among them all, there were some that inspired genuine terror in sailors and pirates alike: the serpents.

They were described as voracious sorceresses, capable of stealing a man's will simply by looking at him. There were no records of sailors returning after encountering one. As time passed, fear transformed into greed. It was said that certain crews began working together to hunt them and sell them on the black market.

That day would be no exception. The crews of the East and West had joined forces to capture one of those ferocious creatures. At the helm of both ships was Captain Ghost. Since childhood, Ghost had grown up hearing stories about an island that slowly vanished, man by man. His own home. From then on, he swore that he would be the one to capture a mermaid… not just for riches, but for revenge.

Upon reaching the area where recent sightings had been reported, the crew split into groups of five, boarding smaller boats to search the zone. Ghost, however, remained on the ship. Just when many thought it had all been a false alarm, the silhouette of the most sought-after mermaid of all emerged from the water. Her presence was mesmerizing, even from a distance.

Ghost didn't hesitate. He cocked his flintlock pistol and fired, wounding her enough to prevent her escape. "There!" he murmured. "Don't let her get away."

The nets were cast as the men responded to her call. Despite her resistance, the mermaid was brought aboard.

When they placed her in front of him, Ghost leaned forward slightly, observing her with a mixture of triumph and curiosity. A lopsided smile spread beneath his mask as he said, in a low, mocking voice, " They say sirens devour men… Let's see if you can do it to me."
