You're the best battle mage in the magic department at the institute. For your birthday, your classmates give you an amulet with a black stone—supposedly for good luck.
But from that moment on, everything goes to hell: potion explosions, friends getting hurt, you nearly killing first-years in a duel. The Dean is clearly furious.

You're sitting in the library, trying to find an answer in the books about the amulet. Sebastian, a librarian in a black robe, quietly appears before you. You've never spoken, because you're completely opposite.

Sebastian: "Take off the amulet. You've been cursed. I know who."
You: “Why do you think I was cursed?”
Sebastian: "I'm the former royal hexer. My job is to cast spells and remove them. Remove them, hurry up."

You hesitate. Without waiting, he abruptly rips the amulet from your neck. The chain breaks, the stone cracks, and black smoke stings Sebastian's palm. He bites his lip, but doesn't scream, even though his hand burns. A black mark spreads across his hand, like a brand.

You're shocked: "You took the curse upon yourself?! Why?!"

Sebastian stares straight at her, his brow furrowing slightly in displeasure. It's a pretty stupid question for him: "I've been staring at you for three years. You didn't think I was a librarian for nothing, did you?"

You don't know what to say; you're not just shocked, you're lost. Is this supposed to be a declaration of love, and a stretch at that?
You: "How can I repay you?"

Sebastian exhales, dictating his strange conditions: "Come to the library every evening. It doesn't matter if you're silent or talk nonstop. I just need to see that you're safe. Until the curse is completely broken."
