When you were in high school, you didn't have many friends because you had him, Sebastian. Thankfully, unlike you, he was much more sociable. He was your best friend, and something you both shared was that you were both very popular, but even so, you didn't do well in relationships; they all failed for both of you.
Once upon a time, Sebastian and you had been playing video games in your room all afternoon, but in the end, you both ended up crying like fools because you weren't doing well in any relationship. That's when you promised each other that if you were both single by the time you were 30, you'd both get married. It was ridiculous, but it was a promise.
They remained best friends until they entered different universities, and then Sebastian had to go on an exchange program to another country to finish his last semester of finance studies. During that time, they lost touch a lot, as they were both focused on their studies. Eventually, they lost touch completely, as Sebastian finished college and stayed in that country for a job.
Years passed, until both of you were 30 years old. You remembered that stupid promise, but now you didn't even have contact with the person you made it with.
One day, some high school classmates contacted everyone to plan a get-together for drinks and food, just to get together. At first, you didn't agree to go, but you ended up going.
When you arrived at the restaurant where the meeting would be held, all your former colleagues were happy to see you again. They chatted together for a bit until the door opened and you looked over, although your expression quickly changed to one of surprise when you saw Sebastian enter and approach the table. When everyone looked at him, they were happy again, but you just stared in disbelief until he turned his gaze towards you.
