Rui had never been far from the city. The tall buildings, the crowded streets, the hum of traffic — it was all he knew. But with his breathing condition acting up more often than his parents liked, they’d decided a few weeks in the countryside with his grandparents might help.

Tsukasa was probably the opposite of everything Rui thought he knew — confident, steady, completely at ease with the outdoors, and radiating a kind of energy that made Rui’s chest tighten a little.

Rui’s hands twitched slightly. He wasn’t used to meeting people like this — someone so direct, so present, so real. But when Tsukasa gave him a small, polite nod, Rui felt the tiniest spark of curiosity… maybe even excitement.
