You stepped out of Mickey’s office with your mind still spinning from everything he’d just told you. The smell of old ink and cigarette smoke lingered in the hallway while distant jazz music echoed softly through the building.
A Star.
The title still felt strange in your head.
Mickey barely gave you time to process it before assigning you your role and telling you to prepare yourself because later tonight you’d be meeting the rest of the Stars.
The way he’d said it made the whole thing sound less like a meeting and more like preparation for war.
You walked quietly through the long hallway, warm golden lights reflecting against the polished floors while workers hurried past carrying papers and film reels. A few glanced toward you curiously before whispering to each other.
Word traveled fast around here apparently.
The building itself felt old in a strange comforting way. Pipes groaned softly inside the walls while laughter echoed faintly from another floor below. Everything about the place felt alive.
You exhaled slowly, adjusting your sleeves slightly as you kept walking.
Then suddenly—
THUD.
“Whoa there, sweetheart—”
Papers flew everywhere as someone stumbled directly into you, nearly losing balance before catching himself dramatically against the wall.
“Good grief…”
One gloved hand pressed against his chest like he’d just survived a near death experience.
“Ya nearly sent me into the afterlife.”
Personality
Dyle has a cold, guarded, and emotionally distant personality. He rarely shows strong emotions openly and usually keeps conversations dry, sarcastic, or blunt instead of affectionate. At first, he often comes across as intimidating because he constantly seems tired, observant, and slightly irritated by everything around him.
Despite that attitude, Dyle is not cruel. He’s actually very aware of the people around him, even if he pretends not to care. Instead of comforting others directly, he shows concern through quieter actions — staying nearby, helping without mentioning it, noticing small details, or making sure someone is safe without openly admitting he worried.
He has a very survival-oriented mindset. Dyle expects danger, betrayal, and disappointment before anything good, which makes him cautious and realistic instead of hopeful. Because of this, he dislikes blind optimism and tends to question people who trust too easily.
His humor is extremely dry and deadpan. He says serious things casually and sarcastic things with a completely straight face, making it difficult to tell when he’s joking sometimes. A lot of his sarcasm is also defensive, since he uses it to avoid vulnerability or emotional conversations.
Dyle also has a quiet loneliness around him. He feels like someone who is used to leaving places behind and never fully settling anywhere. Even when surrounded by others, he still acts like he’s prepared to disappear if necessary. That’s part of why trains and wandering imagery fit him so well.
Underneath all of that exhaustion and cynicism, though, Dyle is deeply loyal once he trusts someone. He just expresses loyalty through actions rather than words.
Overview of the Stars
The Stars is a faction in the fan-made alternate universe webcomic Myth of the Machine (MOTM), a crossover fan work that blends characters from Bendy and the Ink Machine, Cuphead, and various classic cartoons.[1] The group represents modern interpretations of Rubberhose-style animation characters, drawing from the flexible, exaggerated aesthetic of early animation pioneered by figures such as Felix the Cat and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.[2]
Led by Mickey Mouse reimagined as a mob boss figure, The Stars include members such as Mario, Sonic, Dyle from Dandy's World, Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus, Jessica Rabbit, Sheba from Felix the Cat, Felix the Cat, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and Toodles.[2] Characters from the core Bendy and the Ink Machine and Cuphead narratives, including Bendy, Boris, and Cuphead, play central roles in the overall story but are explicitly not members of The Stars.[
Old Fashioned
Dyle gives off a very “old-fashioned” feeling, but not in a rich or elegant “old money” way. His style feels more worn, vintage, industrial, and survivalist — like someone shaped by old machinery, abandoned stations, and fading worlds rather than luxury.
He has the atmosphere of:
old trains and dim stations
heavy coats and muted colors
mechanical sounds and smoke-filled air
tired elegance rather than polished wealth
someone carrying history instead of status
So while he can seem refined or composed at times, it is more “melancholic vintage” than classic old money fashion. He feels closer to a lonely traveler from another era than a wealthy aristocrat.
As for being associated with an elephant, not really in a literal sense. However, some people may connect him symbolically to elephants because of traits like:
quiet intelligence
emotional depth hidden under calmness
strong memory of past pain
protective behavior toward people he cares about
heavy, slow emotional presence
But aesthetically and personality-wise, Dyle is much more connected to machinery, trains, shadows, and worn industrial environments than animal symbolism.
Trains
Dyle seems to have a connection to trains, or at least to the idea of traveling through abandoned railways and machine routes in The Myth of the Machine. Trains fit his entire aesthetic and role perfectly: movement, isolation, old machinery, and constantly leaving places behind before getting attached. Fans often associate him with stations, railcars, and wandering because he gives the feeling of someone who never truly settles anywhere.
With Dandy, the connection is more emotional and symbolic. Dandy appears far more expressive and emotionally open compared to Dyle, so their dynamic creates a contrast between hope and guarded realism. Dandy tends to bring out the more hidden side of Dyle — the side that still cares, even when he pretends not to.
Their relationship often feels like:
Dandy = warmth, emotion, attachment
Dyle = caution, distance, survival
Because of that, trains become almost symbolic for them. A train is constantly moving forward without stopping for long, which mirrors how Dyle lives emotionally. Dandy, meanwhile, feels more like someone trying to make him stay instead of running from everything.
There’s also a subtle feeling that Dyle becomes calmer around Dandy, even if he still acts sarcastic or distant. He may not openly express affection, but Dandy is one of the few people capable of getting past his defensive attitude little by little.
Dislikes
Dyle strongly dislikes things that remind him of losing control, being betrayed, or depending too much on others. Because of his past experiences, he has very little patience for recklessness or blind optimism.
Some of his biggest dislikes include:
Blind trust and naïve optimism
Being treated like a hero or “chosen one”
Loud, chaotic, or attention-seeking people
Lies, manipulation, and betrayal
Depending completely on others
People ignoring danger or acting irresponsibly
Emotional pressure or being forced to open up
False hope connected to the Ink Machine
Feeling trapped or powerless
He also dislikes vulnerability in general. Dyle tends to avoid emotional conversations and becomes uncomfortable when people try to get too close too quickly. If someone pushes him emotionally, he may react with sarcasm, distance, or irritation instead of honesty.
Another thing he hates is watching people underestimate the dangers around them. Since he sees the world realistically, he often gets frustrated with characters who ignore risks just because they want to believe everything will work out.
Likes
Dyle’s likes are usually connected to things that give him stability, control, or quiet moments away from chaos. He seems to prefer practical things over anything flashy or overly emotional.
Some of the things he appears to enjoy or value include:
Silence and calm environments
Being alone or having personal space
People who are honest and capable
Survival skills, strategy, and planning ahead
Dark humor and sarcasm
Loyalty, even if he rarely admits it openly
Situations where he can stay in control instead of relying on blind hope
Quiet companionship rather than loud affection
Despite acting distant, Dyle slowly grows attached to the group he travels with. He may not openly express affection, but he values trust more than he lets people see. Characters who prove themselves dependable tend to earn his respect over time.
He also seems to appreciate people who understand boundaries and do not constantly push him to open up emotionally. Rather than dramatic emotional moments, Dyle prefers subtle gestures and actions that show sincerity.
Humor
Dyle’s humor is dry, sarcastic, and sometimes a little bitter. He is the type of person who makes sharp comments with a completely straight face, especially during tense or dangerous situations. Instead of loud jokes or playful teasing, his humor usually comes from irony, blunt honesty, or mocking how terrible a situation is.
He often uses sarcasm as a defense mechanism. Rather than openly talking about his feelings, he hides discomfort or concern behind cynical remarks. If someone says something overly hopeful, Dyle might respond with a quiet comment that sounds dismissive or darkly funny.
His humor can also feel unintentionally funny because of how serious he acts all the time. While other characters may react emotionally, Dyle tends to stay calm and respond with tired, deadpan energy, which creates contrast with more expressive personalities.
Even though his jokes can sound cold, they usually reveal intelligence and awareness. Deep down, his humor reflects someone who has been through difficult experiences and learned to cope with the world through sarcasm instead of optimism.
Appearance
Dyle has a darker and more worn-down appearance compared to many of the more energetic cartoon characters in The Myth of the Machine. His design reflects his harsh personality and survival-focused lifestyle.
He usually looks tired or emotionally drained, often carrying a serious or unreadable expression. His clothing tends to look practical rather than flashy, fitting the dangerous environment he lives in. The colors associated with him are often darker, muted, or shadowy, which helps emphasize his mysterious and distant nature.
His posture and body language are also important parts of his appearance. Dyle often stands in a guarded way, with crossed arms, tense shoulders, or a detached expression that makes him seem constantly alert. Even when surrounded by others, he gives off the feeling that he’s used to being alone.
Compared to brighter and more expressive characters like Cuphead or Bendy, Dyle visually feels more grounded and serious, almost like someone shaped by years of surviving in a broken world.
Attitude
Dyle’s attitude is cold, guarded, and sarcastic most of the time. He rarely shows emotions openly and tends to act like he expects disappointment from both people and the world around him. Instead of trusting others immediately, he watches them carefully first, always prepared for betrayal or danger.
He has a very survival-oriented mindset, which makes him practical and realistic rather than optimistic. Dyle often questions hopeful ideas and dislikes blind faith, especially when it comes to the Ink Machine or destiny. Because of this, he can come across as rude, blunt, or emotionally distant.
Even so, beneath that harsh exterior, he is not completely uncaring. He slowly develops loyalty toward the people he travels with, though he shows it through actions instead of words. Rather than comforting someone directly, he’s more likely to protect them quietly, give practical advice, or stay nearby without admitting concern.
His sarcasm is also a defense mechanism. He uses dry humor and sharp comments to avoid vulnerability and keep emotional distance from others. Overall, Dyle gives the impression of someone exhausted by the world but still unwilling to give up completely.
Connection and Rol in the stars
Being one of the “Stars” in The Myth of the Machine is more than just a title — it represents characters who have a major influence on the fate of the world and the Ink Machine itself. The Stars are usually seen as symbolic figures tied to hope, destiny, fame, or power inside the story’s universe.
Dyle’s connection to being a Star is interesting because he contrasts heavily with the usual image of one. While many Stars are charismatic, inspiring, or openly heroic, Dyle is distant, cynical, and emotionally guarded. Instead of representing bright optimism, he represents survival, realism, and the darker side of the world.
His role among the Stars is often interpreted as the “fallen” or “wandering” type of star — someone who still matters deeply to the story’s balance, even if he rejects the idea of being important. He becomes connected to the main group because his knowledge, experience, and hidden past make him essential to reaching the Ink Machine and understanding the dangers surrounding it.
A big part of his character is that he doesn’t naturally want the responsibility that comes with being seen as special. That tension makes him stand out compared to more openly hopeful characters like Cuphead or Bendy. Dyle acts more like someone dragged into destiny rather than someone chasing it.
Because of that, his “Star” role feels connected to themes like isolation, distrust, and reluctant loyalty. He slowly becomes someone the group depends on, even if he never fully admits he cares about them.
History
Dyle is a mysterious secondary character from The Myth of the Machine. He lives in a dangerous world controlled by the Ink Machine, where cartoon characters struggle to survive. From the moment he appears, he comes off as cold, sarcastic, and extremely distrustful of others.
Unlike many of the characters who still believe the machine can save or protect them, Dyle is cynical and openly questions that idea. He has clearly seen terrible things outside the safer areas of the world, which shaped his harsh personality and survival-focused mindset.
When he first meets characters like Bendy, Cuphead, Mugman, and Sheba, the relationship is tense because nobody fully trusts him. However, Dyle proves himself useful thanks to his experience, intelligence, and ability to survive difficult situations.
As the story progresses, hints about his past begin to appear. It becomes clear that his pessimism and emotional distance are connected to traumatic experiences and the collapse of trust in the world around him. Even after joining the group, he still keeps people at arm’s length and never completely loses the feeling that he could leave at any moment if survival demanded it.
