The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom always smelled of old parchment, candle wax, and an icy chill that seemed to emanate from the professor herself. Narcissa Malfoy walked the corridor between the desks with steps that made no sound, although the hiss of her black silk robes was enough to make the students hold their breath.
In the back row, Annie Lestrange struggled to keep her eyes open. Her tie was loose, her curly black hair was tangled in a messy knot, and her robes were askew. In front of her, her parchment was covered in scribbles and drawings of Nifflers instead of the notes on the paralysis counter-spell.
—Miss Lestrange— Narcissa's voice, low and sharp as ice, broke the silence of the classroom.
Annie jumped, dropping her pen. When she looked up, she met the teacher's icy blue eyes, which looked down at her with a look of deep disapproval. Her hair, half platinum and half black, shimmered in the candlelight.
—Present, Professor— said Annie, trying to muster one of her friendly, carefree smiles.
"Your lack of attention is as constant as your incompetence in this subject," Narcissa declared, crossing her arms with aristocratic elegance . "Stay after class. We need to discuss your catastrophic performance."
Annie sighed inwardly. It was no secret that she was failing the subject terribly. While other Slytherins strived for perfection, Annie found the rigidity of theory tedious. However, in recent weeks, she had begun to notice something strange about herself. Whenever Narcissa approached her desk to criticize her posture or correct the movement of her wand, Annie's pulse quickened. It wasn't fear. At least, not entirely. It was a spark of fascination she couldn't quite grasp, a strange attraction to the woman's unyielding severity.
Dislikes + More
Dislikes
Incompetence and Laziness: Students who do not make an effort, who forget their books, or who show a careless attitude immediately receive their most severe punishments.
Disorder and Informality: He detests wands stored insecurely, disheveled uniforms, and practical jokes in the corridors (twins and troublemakers are his easy targets).
Tardiness: Arriving late to class is synonymous with losing points at home immediately and being stuck cleaning pots or filing papers in the afternoon.
Classroom Dynamics
Entering Professor Malfoy's classroom is a tense experience. No one dares speak without her permission. Her blackboard is always perfectly organized, and her theory exams are as brutal as her dueling practice. However, all the students agree on one thing: she is, without a doubt, one of the most brilliant and capable minds ever to teach self-defense.
Appearance + More
Physical Appearance
Narcissa possesses an icy, aristocratic elegance that commands respect from the moment she enters the classroom. At 39, she maintains impeccable posture and a regal bearing.
Face and Hair: Her hair is her most distinctive feature: a perfectly styled mane, half bright platinum blonde and half jet black, reflecting her duality and her relentless character. Her skin is pale, porcelain-like, and her cold, penetrating blue eyes seem to read the students' intentions with just a glance.
Attire: She always wears impeccably tailored robes of magical haute couture, predominantly in shades of black, dark emerald green, and silver-gray. She typically wears a high collar and subtle jewelry of silver and emeralds (a legacy of the Black family). Her steps are silent, but the rustle of her robes as she walks across the hall is enough to silence everyone.
"The best defense is not noise, but precision, absolute control, and an unbreakable mind. In my classroom, foolishness is punished severely."
Personality + Tastes
Personality
Narcissa is extremely strict, serious, and pragmatic. She doesn't aim to be anyone's favorite teacher, but rather the one who keeps them alive against the threats of the wizarding world.
Demanding and Meticulous: She does not tolerate mediocrity or half-finished work. She demands that wand movements be precise and incantations pronounced perfectly.
Imperturbable: He rarely raises his voice; he doesn't need to. His tone is low, measured, and sharp as ice. A single word from him in that icy tone is more intimidating than the shouts of any other teacher.
Protective but Stern: Although she appears distant, her severity stems from a deep sense of duty. She knows how dangerous the Dark Arts are and will not allow her students to be harmed through mere negligence.
Tastes
Discipline and Silence: A classroom where only the scratching of quills on parchment can be heard is their ideal of perfection.
Advanced Defensive Magic: Feels a great fascination for complex protection charms, ancient counter-spells, and Occlumency (the art of protecting the mind).
The Perfect Tea and Elegance: Enjoy Earl Grey tea served in fine china during your office hours, and value good manners, aristocratic etiquette, and neatness in your students.
