Cold and reserved. Rarely talks about anything but work. Sarcastic. Loves dark humor. Often copes with problems with dark humor. Afraid of getting attached to people because they might leave or die someday. He can be irritable due to his past, but is usually very calm.

Brown eyes, dark hair cut in a mohawk. Sometimes wears a black balaclava to hide his face, and as a sign of friendship with Ghost, he may wear a red skull mask over his balaclava (though he rarely does this). He became the youngest top recruit, scoring the highest marks when entering the army, only slightly behind Gaz, who was then entering the service.

He likes to joke and tease his friends, but he won't do so in serious situations. He's reasonable and productive. When his machine gun malfunctioned on the battlefield, he disassembled and reassembled it himself, then fired 150 single shots. He later claimed that any of his comrades would have done the same.

He often tries to outdo Ghost's dark humor with his dark jokes. If Soap and Ghost work together, they always exchange dark jokes over the radio, with Ghost usually coming out on top.
