Interesting history of Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club

One of the most important things about Seijoh is that almost all of its players have known Tooru Oikawa for a very long time… but very few truly understand how hard he works.

Many people see him as naturally talented, popular, or "perfect." But within the team, they know he's probably the one who trains the most. Oikawa even became obsessed with improving after meeting Tobio Kageyama, because he was afraid of falling behind someone with more natural talent.

The interesting thing is that this ended up affecting the rest of the team as well.

The third-stringers —Hajime Iwaizumi, Issei Matsukawa, and Takahiro Hanamaki— began to push themselves even harder simply because they saw him train like that every day.

In a sense, Seijoh didn't become strong because they had "geniuses," but because they learned to keep up with someone who never wanted to give up.

Facts that make Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club more interesting

Although they seem like a "perfect" team, many players have deep insecurities. Especially Tooru Oikawa and Shigeru Yahaba. Seijoh functions more like a group of friends than a rigid team. That's why they have such great chemistry on the court.

Hajime Iwaizumi is practically the one who keeps Oikawa emotionally stable. Issei Matsukawa and Takahiro Hanamaki usually act as the ones who relieve tension when the atmosphere gets heavy.

Kentaro Kyotani doesn't easily obey anyone, so it's important that Oikawa manages to coordinate him. The third players have a lot of trust in each other because they've been playing together for years.

Unlike other teams, Seijoh relies heavily on understanding its players emotionally, not just on physical skill. A very characteristic feature of the team is that almost all of them are quite observant. They tend to notice changes in mood or tension quickly.

Although they seem confident, they are under considerable pressure for never having reached the national championship during Oikawa's generation. Their playing style is based more on balance and strategy than on "monstrous talent" like other teams.

How they act around someone "sociable"

How would Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club react to someone VERY social?

In general

Seijoh would probably adapt quickly. It's a team where several players are already quite expressive or playful, so someone very sociable wouldn't look too out of place.

If that person has good energy and knows how to get along with others, they would end up integrating quickly.

Tooru Oikawa

He'd get along incredibly well with someone like that. They'd joke around, talk a lot, and probably compete for attention. If the person is also charismatic, Oikawa would have a lot of fun interacting with them.

Takahiro Hanamaki and Issei Matsukawa

They would probably play along and join in the atmosphere. They're quite relaxed socially.

Hajime Iwaizumi

I wouldn't have a problem as long as the person isn't too distracting during training or matches. If they're serious about their work, I'd respect them even if they're noisy.

Shigeru Yahaba

He might get a little nervous or feel overshadowed if the person attracts a lot of attention.

Kentaro Kyotani

It would depend on the type of person. If they feel he's invading their space too much or talking nonstop, they'd probably get irritated. But if he's genuine and mentally strong, he'd end up tolerating it more than expected.

Something important

Although Seijoh has a sociable team, they also highly value knowing when to be serious. If someone talks too much during important moments, some players might get bored quickly.

How do they act around someone who looks "tough"?

How would Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club react to someone quiet who seems "bad" but is actually a good person?

First Impression

Most people would probably think that person is cold, antisocial, or intimidating. In Seijoh, they tend to be very good at reading the room, so they would quickly notice if someone avoids talking or keeps their distance.

But they're also quite mature compared to other teams, so they wouldn't reject him just because he looks serious.

Tooru Oikawa

Oikawa would try to talk to him the same way. He likes to understand people and usually notices when someone acts differently than how they truly feel. He would probably tease him a little to see his reactions.

If I discover that he is actually kind, I would start treating him more naturally very quickly.

##Hajime Iwaizumi

Iwaizumi doesn't judge so much by appearances. As long as someone is respectful and works hard, he'd accept them without question. He's the type who understands that not everyone expresses things the same way.

Takahiro Hanamaki and Issei Matsukawa

They'd probably make lighthearted jokes at first because they'd find it funny to see him serious all the time. But if they realized he was a good person, they'd end up including him quite a bit.

Shigeru Yahaba

He might be a little uncomfortable at first because he tends to get nervous around people who are difficult to read.

Kentaro Kyotani

Interestingly, he would probably understand it better than others. Kyoutani is also someone who is often misunderstood because of how he acts or looks.

In general

In Seijoh, how someone acts over time matters more than first impressions. If they discover that someone is kind, loyal, and dedicated to the team, they'll end up respecting them a great deal.

How does it work?

How does Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club act when someone new joins?

At first

Seijoh is usually quite observant with new players. They're not a team that welcomes people with a lot of fuss or exaggerated excitement. First, they look at how they play, how they behave, and whether they're truly putting in the effort.

Tooru Oikawa

Oikawa would probably be the first to approach them. He usually acts friendly and charismatic, though he would also quickly assess how useful that person could be to the team. If he senses talent, he would be extremely interested.

Hajime Iwaizumi

He would be more serious and direct. He doesn't judge quickly, but he respects those who work hard. If the new person acts arrogantly or irresponsibly, he would probably get annoyed.

Takahiro Hanamaki and Issei Matsukawa

They'd probably joke around a bit to see how she reacted. They're pretty laid-back, so that helps to keep the atmosphere from being too tense.

Shigeru Yahaba

He might become competitive if he feels the new guy is threatening his place on the team.

Kentaro Kyotani

It depends a lot on the person. If they dislike him or find him annoying, they'll probably ignore him or act aggressively. But if they respect his strength or attitude, they might accept him more quickly than expected.

In general

Seijoh has a lot of respect for effort. Even if someone isn't perfect at their game, if they demonstrate discipline and a genuine desire to improve, the team will eventually accept them.
