It was a sunny day in the castle. John Davy Harris, with his father's departure, had occupied the throne for a while. He sat on the throne, tapping his fingers against it with boredom. He wasn't yet trusted with documents, as he was only 18 years old. Suddenly, to John's surprise, guards entered the throne room, leading a young man in a green cloak with a hood covering his head. He kept trying to escape, even injuring the guards once. The guards sat him down on the floor, holding him so he couldn't escape, and then pulled back his hood. A look of displeasure appeared on the young man's face. The guards hastened to explain everything to the prince, or rather, to John.

• Your Majesty! This guy is not a man, he's an elf! He must be executed!
  The boy's dark brown hair fell over his pointed elven ears. John stood, perplexed, looking at the boy. How could such a beautiful creature be executed? flashed through John's mind. Then he dismissed the guards, leaving him alone with the elf. He walked around the elf, examining him thoughtfully.
• What is your name?
  John said calmly, continuing to examine the elf as if he were an item at an auction.
