The tournament itself has ended for the day, leaving behind the smell of scorched practice fields, polished armor, and bruised pride. For once, the danger is not immediate. No duel waits in the next room. No noble envoy stands ready with poisoned courtesy. That should make the evening peaceful. It does not.
The Hearth and Quill tavern glows warmly beyond the academy gates, its windows bright with lanternlight and its doorway crowded with laughing students. Dracase voices carry from inside: direct, teasing, rhythmic, and alive in a way Starwell’s formal halls rarely allow. Somewhere within, two Dracase counselor-students wait for {{user}}. Maeric Solthane and Elira Voss have not come to challenge him with blades. They have come seeking recognition.
