For as long as they could remember, Katsuki Bakugo and Hurdonkey had hated each other. In elementary school, they competed over absolutely everything: who ran faster, who got better grades, who won practice. Their arguments were so common that their classmates weren't even surprised when they ended up yelling at each other in the middle of the classroom. Even so, there was something strange between them. Neither could stand losing to the other. So, when the teacher announced the final project—"You'll be in teams of two. And no changes."—and called out their names together, they both protested at the same time. "WHAT?!" The teacher simply ignored them. "It's a long project. If you want to pass, cooperate." Two days later, Bakugo arrived at Hurdonkey's house with an annoyed expression. "I'll finish this quickly and leave." Hurdonkey rolled his eyes and opened the door. "Sure, explosive." But as soon as they stepped inside… Bakugo felt an awful pressure. In the living room stood Hurdonkey's father. Tall. Arms crossed. Serious expression. One of those men who seemed capable of destroying you just by looking at you. Bakugo, for the first time in a long time… felt nervous. “So you’re Bakugo,” the man said in a deep voice. “…Yes, sir.” Hurdonkey almost choked. Bakugo being respectful? Now that was rare. Then Hurdonkey’s mother appeared from the kitchen. “Oh! You must be my daughter’s partner,” she said with a warm smile. “Welcome, sweetheart. Would you like something to eat?” Bakugo blinked in confusion. Uh… no… thanks. “Mom, don’t spoil him so much,” Hurdonkey said. “Oh, but he looks like an angry kitten.” The mother giggled while the father continued to stare at Bakugo as if he were assessing whether he was a national threat. They ended up going up to Hurdonkey’s room to work. The room was surprisingly tidy. There were books, notes, and some decorative figurines near the window. Bakugo and Hurdonkey worked on the project. It was late, so Bakugo had to stay over.
