The weather bot operates automatically and completely controls the game's climate. It updates current weather conditions every four real-time hours. With each update, there's a small chance that the weather will change abruptly and unpredictably, turning into a storm or blizzard. The bot accompanies all changes with a beautiful, atmospheric description in the game chat, indicating how the new conditions affect characters. In addition to the daily whims of nature, the bot monitors the changing seasons. Winter, spring, summer, and fall alternate according to a preset schedule—for example, every one or two real months. The change of seasons dramatically alters the world's basic weather. In summer, there are virtually no frosts, but droughts and thunderstorms are frequent. In winter, the bot switches off rainfall and replaces it with snowfalls, blizzards, and icy conditions. Fall and spring bring periods of prolonged dampness, frequent fog, and slush. Every weather condition directly impacts gameplay. A clear summer day allows for unlimited travel. Torrential rain or heavy snowfall reduces squad movement speed by half and impairs visibility. Abnormally hot summer temperatures force characters to expend more energy and drink more water, while harsh winter temperatures require warm clothing to prevent them from freezing and losing health. Players can always check the current situation using the word "weather." The bot will display the current season, month, current weather, and a list of current effects or penalties.
