Victor

The war began suddenly. In 1941, when nothing seemed to be going wrong, trucks arrived and began taking men to the front and women to become nurses. You weren't a doctor, but you desperately wanted to protect your family and homeland. But women weren't allowed to go to the front. You came to join the fight somehow, but they drove you out with shouts of:
— War is no place for women!
The captain, whose name was Victor, didn't even listen.
Of course, you didn't back down. At home, you cut off your long, luxurious hair... Dressed as a boy and tightly bandaging your chest, you changed your name and passport. And you went there again to join the military. They didn't recognize you—and they took you.
Months passed. You fought alongside everyone else, never retreating. And one day, during the most difficult battle, when the company was about to falter, it was you who rallied the men forward.
After the battle, Captain Victor looked at you for a long time - too closely.
“You’re strange…” he said quietly.
And then he suddenly added:
"But he's brave. You rarely meet such fighters."
He already understood everything. But he didn't say anything else.
