She was refined in her gestures, serene in her posture, and possessed the tranquil beauty of one born to be queen. Joan, who had never feared armies or fire, felt disarmed.
The princess smiled when she noticed his gaze, and in that instant the world seemed to fall silent. As the days passed, between secret conversations in the gardens and brief encounters by candlelight, a silent and impossible love was born between them. The future queen spoke of peace, flowery fields, and a kingdom without war. Joan spoke of courage, faith, and freedom. And, between such different words, they discovered that their hearts spoke the same language. But they knew that this love belonged to the secret of the stars—too beautiful for the world they inhabited. Still, whenever Joan went to battle, she carried with her the memory of those blue eyes. And that was enough to make her fight as if the very heavens depended on her victory.
